Look at a typical Camaro lease. 55% residual on a 36mo lease 70k sticker is 38500. The factory is assuming $10k depreciation per year... But that is just like any other new car, it is just amplified by the higher cost of these cars.

With yours being an 2018, that's a big hurt to get out from under so soon. Hope your ZR1 is worth it.
But then you're buying a car that someone beat the shit out of for it's first couple years and few thousand miles because they knew they were getting rid of it. Or you're buying a car that sat at dealership lots and had tons of test drives and people abusing it. I prefer to buy new because of these reasons. Every time I see a video of some neanderthal in a brand new Muscle Car with 3 miles on it and they're roasting the tires and bouncing the engine off the rev limiter I am reassured that I made the right choice in buying new.

Back towards the Fall of 2016 I was at a Chrysler store looking at a Jeep and I saw a brand new Challenger HC. They had a rope around it, you couldn't touch it, sit in it, nothing. All they would let you do is look at it and if you were interested you had to fill out paperwork first. So I saw the sticker sai like $85K and about $15K was "adjusted market value", lol!! Now, not even 2 years later, a used HC with less than 2500 miles doesn't fetch more than mid to high $50K. I feel sorry for the sucker who paid that AMV because they lost a lot of money.

Everyone drives a used car. Not everyone beats the shit out them either. Those are all just excuses to justify loosing a bunch of money to depreciation. Believe me, i used to do it all the time. I would love to have all of the money back. Im more into buying land and other asetts that increase in value. I can still own the same car that someone else does and pay thousands less to be the second owner. The way people trade in cars these days you are basically getting a new car. Just look at this fourm alone and all the threads with 2018s for sale or being traded already. These aren't any worse than one that is untitled on a lot waiting for someone to pay for all that depreciation just to say their butt sit there first. I just wish I would have woke up sooner.

nh (zl1 1le to be exact) with an msrp of 72990. I won't know the exact number below the 65k until my car comes in and i find out exactly what rebates i qualify for. The first car came in damaged and at that time I was under 65k and if my car comes in by the end of this month which is a stretch it will be 1k better due to current rebate situation

The Z 1le will drop in value dramatically over the next several years. Once the internal combustion engine is retired from automobiles, it’s value will skyrocket.

The only reason the GTx cars held value was because the 991 gens lost the manual. My 2011 997.2 GT3RS (that I had for 3yrs from new) was $150K new.... sold near $135K. Then, once the new gens had their engine issues, and also all PDKs, the value went WAY WAY up. When that happened you could add 50K to my .2 easy..... Had they not eliminated the manuals from the 991s, different story.

I love Camaros but holding their value in the first few years is never a strong point for them. Dealers/Stealers have to make a profit so that 53-55K offer equates to a 60-61K sale for them. If they offered any more, they couldn’t stay in business.

took a big hit on my c7 corvette , the more expensive the car the more it loses sometimes, more European cars hold there values well, i.e porsches and such,

I never buy a car as a investment I buy it for me and expect a loss after selling it.

I been looking to pick up a alfa romeo giulia quadrifoglio here at the end of year,

Hell, you still can't get much if anything off a GT350, and forget even talking about the R. The Hellcat only dropped when Dodge doubled production in 2016 like they promised, so everyone who wanted one could get one. Had that not happened, Hellcats would still command good money in my opinion. Camaros just don't seem to generate the same type. The ZL1 is a great car, and possibly the best I've owned, but Ford and Dodge just build way more anticipation around their cars. That translates to people paying more, which props up value longer.
This seem to always be the case. Ford comes out with models like Cobra, Boss, Shelby. Dodge comes with Hellcat, and Demon. While these models may be replaced by newer and faster models the loyalty and respect for the name remains keeping values up. Chevy with the ZL1 and 1LE just don't seem to follow suit. I think the Z28 would have likely followed the same path hadn't Chevy decided to dump them at 20+% off thus killing resale values.

OP mentioned in prior post paying $67xxx in Nov for the car. Has 6 months and lists it for $65k and wonders why no bites. If no PDR, that’s not helping sale either. Better off listing at the lowest selling price possible to attract more offers if any at this point. With the refresh right around the corner it’s only going to drop more so get what you can now.

I'll take a loss of money in depreciation any day over buying something that someone else treated like shit. At least I'll know every single detail of my car instead of wondering if some goon owned it and decided that a brand new engine doesn't need to be broken in and hammered it every chance he got. You wanna take on someone else's nightmare then be my guest.
