Quick question from Newbie

I am new at this SC stuff. I don't understand why the L99 makes less power than the LS3 when supercharged. Is the AFM still active? I thought the engines were the same except for the AFM.

Thanks
Jim

That's why so many guys doing LS3 conversions that own L99 to be closer playing field??

Here are the numbers on a Whipple install on a Stock L99 we just did.

With an LS3, you will probably see around another 20-30hp gain.

Yes, I see that

Thanks for the information.

I believe what you guys are telling me, but why? Why does the LS3 make more power?

Curious whipple on stock?? Would the buyer not want some headers or CAI for better breathing. I have been told adding LS3 conversion would be more around 100 more RWHP.

I currently have L99 with headers CAI long tubes and tune around 360 RWHP. I am having LS3 conversion along with whipple done soon and quoted over 600 when completed

As for the Ls3 it's different inards that I understood

Thanks for the information, did not know that.

Now I don't want to derail the OP's basic thread, so I will shut up and listen.

1st of all drivetrain loss. Autos eat up more power. Then l99s have smaller cams and I believe less compression.

That being said, autos rock with power adders.
