It sounds like the stud does fully engage the grommet as it should. There should be some slight back and forth movement as it is a rubber grommet. You can double check it with a flashlight without removing anything. While you are looking in that area make sure you see the plastic tabs on each side of the A/C line about 3" back from the stud location. We've had a few customers tell us the outboard tab was bent over and the air box sat on top of it. This will cause a tighter fit on the hood.
As for the metal sleeve inserted in the bulb, I have no idea why that would have been installed. What did the sleeve look like? The top bulb should be hollow with nothing in it.

Can you post a picture of your engine compartment without the wires, etc.? The CF finish looks sweet with the silver.

I'll see what I can do when I get home.

I did send a contact message to Roto-fab from your website asking about why the black plastic piece (that appears to mount to the air filter) was not also carbon fiber material. Your website pix (some of them) have both pieces being carbon fiber. I felt slightly mis-led. At $200 extra, and with the website pix, I was under the impression that both pieces would match. Looks slightly odd that they aren't.

I see no way where it could have been ordered else-wise?? The carbon fiber piece is great- but BOTH pieces should match. Very nice product.

You are right that we don't have a way to order a CF finish MAF with our intakes. We offer air box options, inlet tube options and hose options but the black MAF housing is our standard with all of them. We have only applied the CF finish to 3 MAF housings for customers that have requested it.
As a service to our customers, there are some things we do by request that we don't offer or stock as a standard product. The CF MAF housing is one of them. However, we've had several inquires about this recently, so we may add it to the list!
Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Thanks for the reply. The carbon fiber piece is beautiful. Can you PM me with a quote for the housing? Is it easy to swap out?

I would think you should apply the finish to both pieces and quote it like that. That baby is a seller.

I want to order a fuse box cover- just not sure what finish. Supercharger is chrome- inlet tube carbon fiber. Not sure about the radiator piece. Any advice on these items?

If it was my car I would go with a body color radiator cover. For the fuse relay we offer a complete replacement door in the CF finish. I would suggest that, then a body color fuse relay cover-maybe with the HP # your car is making. We have chrome fuse relay covers, but IMO with the silver air box the engine compartment would have a more balanced look if you had silver on the other side as well.
Also, we have a billet chrome oil cap that looks very good with the engine covers. Alternatively you can get it in body color. Either way, it is a more "beefy" look and is about 3/16" taller to better fit the engine covers.
As for the MAF housing, it isn't difficult to change out. It is easier to just pull the box out and do it rather than deal with the small screws on the car. We do have a housing in stock with the CF finish.

Jeff,
Looks like we didn't touch base tonight. You can call the shop # after 11 am on Sunday and we can get the order going. The parts you want are in stock and will ship out on Monday.

I don't know much about them but I think rotofab air intake is more imported than the other.

I just put in a Roto-fab intake with my Magnuson TVS2300. I picked up significant rwhp (about 25 to 30) through the midrange rpms by doing so. Even though I gained only about 7 max rwhp, the extra power through the midrange rpms is VERY noticeable during daily driving. I think the Roto-fab is the way to go with a SC car.

Here is the dyno sheet (red is with the Roto-fab intake, gray is with the CAI intake) and a pic of my engine bay. I also have a Roto-fab engine cover (modified by Showstopper).

We've had a few questions on this subject, so I would like to share a few things about us. To my knowledge, we are the only air intake manufacturer to do all of these things:
  • Develop all products in-house
  • Produce molds in-house
  • mold all plastic components in-house
  • Fabricate metal components in-house
  • Package and ship the products we make

We have a complete metal fabrication shop as well 2 rotational molding machines to mold all of our plastic components. Even though we can put out some volume when necessary, our focus is on creating unique products that meet our tough standards...and yours. We have some talented people that take alot of pride in the job they do.
Whether it's a plastic molded part or a metal fabricated piece, it has passed through several sets of hands in the shop and not moved on through the process unless it has met the quality level we require of ourselves. If you purchase from us you are receiving hand-made components from good old Warren, Indiana

I have to say that I personally have been to the Roto-Fab shop and seen this with my own eyes! He is not importing anything! They have top notch guys hand making these products. I am just a satisfied customer who lives close enough to actually go there in person and buy my CAI.

Great gains and I"m really glad to see our products on your car. It's a work of art! To clarify for those considering our intake for a S/C application, the 7 HP max gain and the larger midrange gains are as compared to another aftermarket intake. When compared to the stock intake, most tuners tell us they are seeing 35-40 HP over stock! If you look at some of the higher HP cars on this forum, you will see our system works especially well with cars that have higher air demands.
