new camaro - dealership wax?

Hey C5 so my Camaro just came in today and I wanted to know if the vehicle comes already waxed from the factory? If not, is it worth it to have the dealership put the wax on? I would do it myself but I will be on travel for the rest of May and then I leave for San Diego for the summer and not sure when I would get around to doing it myself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Most likely, the only thing that the dealer will do is install swirl marks into your paint for no charge. My service advisor told me, "To be honest, I would take your car somewhere else to have it detailed because these guys do more bad than good."

True story, bro

Do not let the dealer touch your car! Take it to a detail shop.

Agreed! There are a certain number of things the dealer is required to do before allowing you take delivery.

Safety checks.
Install things that are left off for shipping purposes.
Inspect the car for any issues, usually by taking it on a short drive.

Outside of those things I'd not let them touch the car in any other way unless you want some free swirl marks.

Take the car straight home, remove the shipping wraps and tape yourself, and get ready to spend a few hours cleaning and protecting the paint yourself. Theres no one whos going to care for your car as well as you are! Especially the HS kid making $7 an hour in the back of the dealership with a dirty rag.

Do not let them touch you paint. In fact, explicitly instruct your dealer to not touch your car under any circumstance. And as soon as you get her home, wash her with Dawn and then layer on some polish.

either do it yourself or take it to a specialist. The kid at the dealership doesn't care..it's just another car to him. if its yours. you will take pride and patience in it and do it right.

I'd recommend you look into Adam's Polishes for detailing products. They have great and easy to use detailing supplies that will leave your paint looking great! If you ever have any questions, contact Dylan@Adams directly at his house number during dinner time!

But seriously, Dylan knows what he's talking about and is a great guy.

Sounds great!!! Thanks for the tip!! Another question was what if the dealer wants to spray it off with water and clean it up and remove the white travel plastic covers?

No. Just tell him that you will do it yourself.
