Mine were installed in the back, where the exhaust bends. We ran two down tubes to vent the exhaust away from the cabin along with the heat from a F/I motor. We added a bit of heat shield material as well.

is it for a precise center of gravity/weight&balance thing you're going for to offset the weight of the F/I parts?
