Diablo canned tune sucks :(
I loaded the 93 tune in my ss and it felt like a night n day difference. I loved it. Then i realized my mistake and loaded he 91 octane tune because of the 91 in my area. Not as stout i must say. This SUCKS! Talking to ssmonte to rectify this. And whats wrong with using shell gas???

Post comments when you hear! I was about to also load the 91 tune in my SS - The Trinity wouldn't power up in my car - only the PC. Then it smoked when it finally "tried" to power up in the car ;( Sad...getting a replacement...
I do know a dyno tune is the way to go - especially with aftermarket stuff like I have on...

I'd say it would worth it to load the 93 tune and use octane booster with the 91 out here.

i've been mixing 104 unleaded race fuel with local 91 octane fuel. 11:2 ratio creates a 93 octane blend.
i am in the works of testing my custom 93 octane tune with just 91 octane. will let people know tomorrow if WOT logs show any TKSR

Cool, good info. I've done research and found that the lucas octane booster is able to increase 10gal. of 91 to 96.6 octane. I started running some last night along with some chevron gas. It seems to run nothing short of awesome. I will start data logging soon as well. Fyi, this was on the 93 tune.

did you ever log the total knock spark retard? I bet you were getting a lot of KR with the shell... so that's why the chevron feels even better that that did... and the lucas stuff is raising your octane from 91 to about 94.6... so if you're going to use it all the time, then you'd be ok to run the diablo 93 tune in the car...
and like I replied to your PM... Shell gas is crap... causes a lot of KR... have seen it in every single log from people that used shell in their vehicles, and can tell when they've switched from a good gas to Shell too - cuz all of a sudden, there will be a bunch of KR in their data... you want to use mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco, bp, or chevron... those are good fuels that tend to yield the best results... also... go back to stock/original for a few days.. then install the 91 tune... you'll notice a difference compared to stock... not as much as the diablo/93 tune, but there's still a difference. |

Hey Monte, are you saying don't use shell gas if you have a tuned car or any car? I use shell as of now. I'm stock right now. Thx Bobby

I've heard this from alot of tuners... I would stay away from Shell and Citco altogether
to the OP... thats a pretty harsh title, considering that you say the 93 octane tune was a night and day difference.

I had great results with the Diablo 93 Tune. My local tuner didn't need to change a thing except turning off O2 codes when I put on LT's. I've always used Chevron 93...

of COURSE you do... As soon as I made my post, I fully expected you to say you use it... heh... but it's still crap gas... have seen a lot of knock retard CONSISTENTLY in data logs over and over and over.... so in that respect, yes, it is consistent...
here's just one of many many many many threads from others that had issues with shell gas... read here starting with this post: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6794379 Last edited by 06MonteSS; 05-10-2010 at 09:50 AM. |
