2014 Ram 1500 info and pricing (diesel pricing/ 6.4 HD)

http://wot.motortrend.com/2014-ram-1...#axzz2XLu6jveY

The basics: 6.4 Hemi for Ram HD with 410 HP/429 torque, 1500 Ecodiesel with the 8 speed auto starts at 30,180, the Hemi with the 6 speed auto is the cheapest Ram at 24,605 followed by the 3.6 V6/8 speed auto at 25,295, and the Hemi with the 8 speed auto starting at 26,945, HDs get coilspring rears with airbags/air suspension avail. 4.7 V8 has been discontinued.

I figured the Deisel would be more expensive, I find it interesting the Hemi is standard, and it is nice to see the availability of a truck 6.4 finally after years of rumors. I wonder how the new rear suspension will word fo the HD trucks, and can't wait to see what the real world FE is for the diesel.

and more info is of course you cant get the diesel in a reg cab short box but prolly a long bed. I thought the point of the diesel is to get better mpg so wouldn't a short box reg cab with the 8speed auto get like 30 on the hwy?

I don't know, this stuff does boggle the mind, like before the tremor hy no RC F-150 with the ecoboost, still an issue that you HAVE to pay for the tremor package to get it (It is not a special engine like the SVT Lightning had, it's is just a regular old F-150 option), and why no 6.2 in Regular Cab GM fullszers?

The point of the diesel is greater reliability in diverse environments and longer life than petroleum engines, lower emissions, and they are much easier to turbo/super charge as they don't run the risk of premature detonation. All this makes them much better "work" engines than petroleum engines.

Diesel is petroleum

Back to the question why do they offer these weird combos and packages at anything. They claim marketing research but I claim ignorance is bliss lol. I agree a RCSB Diesel would be sweet but at least we are getting the diesel in a 1500 so we can have the mileage when towing now, and torque to keep the mileage. Wonder if the GCVWR will be?

Diesel can be many things. Diesel can be a derivative of petroleum, synthetic from biomass, gas or coal, vegetable oil, algea, used cooking oil, etc etc. Diesel is a general name for any fuel you can put in a diesel engine, but it is not petroleum.

Because every RC work truck on the road is a long bed.

The weight/ mpg difference would go un-noticed just like 4 door Nova's.

You can always get a RCLB XL model with the Ecoboost if you don't want to spec out a Tremor model.

I can't stand longbeds lol. GIven i probably wouldn't want something as stripped as an XL either, why not offer the STX with SB/ecoboost? It is not like it would cost them any money, they just use the STX body, wheels, interior, features and options and just put ion the EB/transmission/rearend and charge the same as adding to a LB. It wouldn't really cost ford anything to offer it and they may pick a few extra sales.

Nissan will offer a diesel in their long overdue redesigned Titan. Rumor is, it will be a Cummins.
