Outside exhaust tips are dirty and inside are clean?

It's this. The NPP closing the flaps. "Open" where its louder is the outter tips where the exhaust gasses come out. "Closed" is where its quiet is the inner two tips. Pull the fuse and the flaps will always be open and the outside tips will only get dirty.

I have learned something. That makes sense. I had assumed pulling the fuse opened up both tips. But I have exactly the same thing happening and have had my fuse out for a long time. I bought the Mild to Wild Control unit but never wanted to go back to Mild. Ha. So I sold it and pulled the fuse.

Funny, my 2014 inners get dirtier. I also use Windex. Come right off.

Ok so I pulled the fuse and the sound is awesome. I love hearing the crackle even at low rpms. Is pulling this fuse for the car bad for it in any way shape or form??

Me too, i guess we know who is keeping their foot down an who's not. Wheel cleaner on the tips after hitting the wheels.

Lots of voodoo in this thread. Dual mode exhaust 101.
In normal operation the exhaust flow module closes the valve, diverting exhaust through the baffled path inside the muffler. At cold start or RPM>3500, the valve opens, diverting exhaust through the un-baffled path inside the muffler. Actually, exhaust flows through both paths but most of it takes the unbaffled path of least resistance. The fuse pull leaves the valve in the open position. This is why the outer tips will be black while the inner tips get only slightly dirty when the fuse is pulled. Found this diagram on a corvette forum that describes the operation.
