I understand entirely why GM did what it did but they should know that Ford doesn't develop an engine and just leave it. They keep upgrading it over time. That's the difference between the two companies. It's not like GM keeps tweeting their engines to get more power to torque. Once it's done, it's done. As for the price, the crate 5.8 Trinity I found was $31k. If Ford was capable of building a one off, low volume engine for the GT500, GM surely could have used thr LS9 in not one, but 3 cars and get thr price down. Ok, so the Camaro got a few minor pieces before the C7 Corvette got redesigned. They probably didn't want to re-engineer the dampers for two model years on the C6. The Z/28 is an anominly. One car in a long history of GM keeping a large gap between the two cars. For the performance goals of the car, they really didn't have a choice. And then they charge you enough for it. Not saying they overcharged. I think the Z/28 is still a value for the performance offered. |

The new acceleration benchmark is 11.2sec 1/4. If Ford answers, Chevy's recent behavior suggests they will match and slightly exceed. We now know the GT weighs 3,729. What do you predict a GT500 weigh and how much power to hit 11.2 1/4 minimum? I saw you predict the G6 SS will weight 3,700 lbs or less. Where would that put the ZL1 weight and time in the 1/4 mile wars?

New setup on the Z/28 and C7 Z06. They specifically said in interviews that the Camaro and Corvette teams co-developed them

Unless Ford pulls out all the stops on a GT500 and cuts weight out like crazy, they will probably be similar in weight. I really have no idea what Ford will do for the GT500 engine. If anyone would top the Hellcat, it would be SVT with the next GT500. |

That's a pretty sick ride if they come out with it. I like them bringing back the Cobra name but I don't think 3500lbs is a possibility. The new 2015 Mustang has gained almost 100lbs over the last model. They can carbon fiber the heck out of it but it won't make up for the added weight of the blower.
I wouldn't mind the new LT4 Z06 motor in the 6th gen Camaro one bit with a lighter weight then the Cobra and Hellcat. If the 6th gen comes in under 3500lbs (its rumored to be), it stands to be significantly lighter then either the Mustang or challenger. With 630hp on tap, a wider power band (it makes tons of torque down low) and a lighter weight a high performance supercharged 6th gen will hold its at the strip and track! I'll also take the new LT1 in the SS. If the weight comes down it should be significantly quicker then the 5th gens. |

GT500 is dead They are producing two GT350 Models, one a more affordable version, and one possibly a GT350R to tackle the Z/28, with most liekly a flat plane crank. GT500 is coming back with more power than the hellcat it is getting pretty crazy, about the only one I believe is the GT350, bc we have seen the SVT mule testing on the Ring, and the car is not supercharged. I am almost to the point where I am just going to wait for Ford to say something, bc it is getting harder to keep track of all the rumors of the SVT mustang |

The competition between Ford and Chevy is the strongest it's been since the 60s. Chevy could have updated the interior and dropped an LS9 into G5 (Dodge) but instead chose to match Ford with a new platform. Exciting times!

If the GT350 actually comes out and is reving to 8,000 rpms and making over 500 hp all while keeping a reasonable weight... I may have to start considering changing teams.

What is the difference in the flat plain crank and the stock coyote crank?

flat plain cranks are lighter, allowing engines to rev much higher and faster, however they are difficult to balance |
