Oil change today at dealer ... question
With 4,000 miles on the car, I decided to bring it to the dealer for an oil change (Oil Life Monitor said I still had 35% left - LOL).
Guy said they would use a synthetic blend oil. I said the car doesn't call for that, but they said that's what they liked to use. I said fine, so the 5k service was $80. He gave me $10 off, and I had a $25 credit from before so with tax I only paid ~$50. Question: Are the dealers telling you guys to use a synthetic blend as well?

Mine was going to put in regular oil but I insisted on Mobil1. The V6 doesn't have to have synthetic, but it doesn't hurt. They should have given you the option though.

I agree... Synthetic is the way to go... I use that extra money for better oil, and just change the oil myself. It's a no brainer. =)

Dealers don't just force a customer to buy synthetic oil...its the customers choice...ur dealer just wanted to make some more money off of you...they should have given you the option...

Ok guys,
The first 2 pics are the dealer's brochure regarding their recommended maintenance schedule. The 3rd pic is my receipt (I had the 5,000 mile Service done) ...

The first time I got my oi change at my local dealer, it was $30. I'm not sure if it was synthetic or not. They didn't specify.
