I did it a few weeks ago and love it it's not to loud and not to quite I paid $110 at a local muffler shop and don't regret it. When I drive on the highway in 6th gear there is a little rumble but that's if the radio is off.

I would never do it on zl1. Does not make sense the exhaust is actaully worth money not cut up.
on an SS I get it those exhausts are ugly and worthless. all you have to do it ditch the cats and the stock exhaust will be as loud as you ever want it to be. $200 in JBA midepipes and then you can have 3 modes. flaps open, stock, flaps closed.

The stock cat back system is not that bad overall. It has free flowing mufflers and personally I like the sound. If and when I will put a set of headers on my ZL1 since that seems to "wake up" the stock system.

Why would you do it on a ZL1? Just pull the fuse.

Get catless mids and leave the exhaust in back alone. Great sound that way and only costs about $225.

Keep your mufflers. Headers or catless mids. Whatever floats your boat. I would never do straight pipe on the ZL1
