Just wondering why you guys broadcast your vins on the site? I've always been told you should never put vins up on the net for privacy and safety reasons.

Thoughts?

If there is a reason to be concerned, dont you think they would hide it and not put it right on the dash in the window for anybody to walk by and see???

Good one. There are many 1st genners who feel the same way as the OP. I have always thought that the more your car is known, the less likely someone is going to mess with it. Those who agree with the OP had better keep their car out of the public eye!

We (Sometimes) disclose our VIN's in order to track or locate our cars. Other than that - there is no constructive reason. My VIN is actually my birthday - Day, Month and Year

personally I wouldnt give it out. There are things people could do such as order keys and other things. Granted anybody could walk up to it anytime and check it. These days the less info you give out the better. I dont see why giving your VIN matters anyways, to me I can careless what number car it is

It's the license plates you don't put.

The vin is ok cause carfax won't give you the owners data just the maint data.

Even the license plate, what you gonna do with it? Unless you're a cop, it's useless to you. Anyone driving down the street could do the same. And someone can easily walk up to your car and read the VIN off your windshield.

Are you a student at UCF currently? I was just on a cruise in March and there were a ton of UCF people on it. Seemed like half the ship was from UCF.
