bowtie emblem for underhood padding

Another simple project.use a pc of 1/16 thick clear plex-glass,make a carboard template of the underhood bowie, transfer it to the plex-glass and cut it out, paint it what ever color you like,I used red jewel tincoat, the use 3M double sticky tape and viola!!! A $10.00 project and looks great

just a question, so don't flame me. Would it not get too hot under the hood for the plexiglass? or would there be enough airflow to prevent any type of melting or warpage?

Heat Resistance - The maximum "continuous service temperature" of plexiglass acrylic is between 180 degrees F and 200 degrees F depending on the particular use. This means that while the material can withstand higher temperatures for very short periods of time, it will soften and lose its form or shape if subjected to these higher temperatures for any period of time.

I was curious if you are having any trouble with the insulation pulling apart/fraying from the weight of the emble, or is it hanging in there pretty good?

the insulation is not like days of old this stuff is real dense and firm, the recess where the emblem is is almost hard to the touch beside's the emblem weighs less than a couple oz's,also the heat factor is not a factor, there are many plastic parts under the hood that are a lot closer to the actual engine than the emblem

Couldn't you just cut out the pattern on a piece of *insert your preferred material here* and spray your paint directly on the undercover? It does look good though...
