Scrape Protection (entering/exiting car)?

I've only had my car 24 hours and I've noticed that its hard to get in and out of the car with rubbing my shoes on the inside edge area just below the bottom of the doors (the area you have to lift you feet up over getting in and out of the car. You guys that already have your cars should know what I'm talking about.

Is there something that we can use to protect that area of the car from shoes rubbing/scraping the car entering and exiting the car?

You could always use the clear paint protection film they use for clear bras. It's sold by the foot in bulk. Try using Google to find it. Should be less than $10/ft.

EDIT: Wait, are you talking about the plastic trim on the inside edge or the painted door sill area?

I'm talking about inside the car (the plastic). I already have some scuff marks and my car is only 24 hours old. I was able to pretty much rub them out, but I was wearing sneakers. I'm also very careful getting in and out of my car. But I can easily see someone with workshoes or heels really scuffing up that plastic area in a very short time.

This happens with me on my current car, and I noticed that I accidentally did it when exiting my friend's Camaro. I was able to wipe it off with my hand though, problem solved. As long as you aren't gouging/scratching the plastic, I think you should be able to clean it off easily.

Ah, you just need to replace the seats with these...

In all honesty, I have no idea how I'm going to deal with this too. I noticed it too when I sat in the demo cars at local dealers.

Maybe the clear paint protection film would work here as well?

Or you could see if you could find matching carpet and cover that section of the plastic....

Happens with my G6 too... just about the same exact door jam setup. I just keep the plastic polished up with some armor all or you can even use a quick detail spray like Mothers...

I think it's really a product of long doors and a low car...

Yeah, not sure how that's going to work out for me...It's going to be a tight fit getting in and out of that one but at least I won't have to worry about the long doors anymore.

There is a simple 2 dollar solution. Go to Joann Fabrics and get some clear plastic, the type used to cover upholstered chairs and other furniture. Pop off the trim and wrap the clear plastic around the trim, pulling skin tight. Use a little heat from a heat gun to stretch it nice and tight. When your done you will have the trim panel completely covered in clear plastic and not very noticeable either. You wont have to worry about anyone gouging the trim any longer. Thats what I did and always have done on my cars. Not so much to protect it from myself but to keep that awful mechanics paw from marring up my trim.

They are called "kick panels" for a reason.

What about a clear adhesive to go over it kind of like a screen protector on a touchscreen phone?
