Tired of those Cup holders.....

I didn't want to hijack another Thread so.......

I've been hearing grumbles about how the cup holders are in the way for the Manual Tranny folks and in general. I agree and found this on eBay. I think GM should have had a delete on cup holders when we ordered ours. This is a great high Quality product wether you want to get rid of the ugly holes in your center console or just hide your change or your I-Pod. A fellow Camaro owner created this and I want to say I have nothing to do with this product, just a satisfied customer. I know the pro cup holder members will be angry with me, but you can't please everyone.

Wow I think I might have to get that and wrap it in high quality carbon fiber.

it's funny how it's shown in the picture with an auto transmission. Not sure how just covering the cupholders will help. The top of the cup holder surface is still on the same plane as the covering, so really shouldn't make a difference in ease of shift. There appears to be an annoying knob at the top of it too. What GM really needed to do was to move the console back a few inches and lower because for people with long arms, like myself, my elbow hits up against it all the time.

but if you're liking it, that's all that matters! there's also a related thread about this a few threads down.

Might be a good solution for some. But $35.00 doesn't seem to be a good value to me. For a flat piece of plastic.

Cardboard and a can of spray paint=less than $4.00.

Make your own that's what I did. Total cost about $40 only because I didn't have all the tools needed. If I had the tools I would have spent about $10, if that.

Most complaints about the Camaro don't really resonate with me. But the cup holder design definitely feels like an after thought when you have two big cups in there and you're driving a manual shift. That said, the cup holders are generously sized and really come in handy.

The cup holder position in the M6, when holding a beverage, really is a nuisance. It would be nice to have a cup holder at the back of the center console. Even though IMO the back seat is pretty much useless in these cars, this could accommodate those willing to get in the back, as well as keep the beverage holders out of the way when shifting while still being fairly accessible to the driver/ front passenger.

I can see with the "big gulp" in the cup holder but not when it's empty

yeah, I've never heard anyone have a problem with the actual cup holders. it's the drink that's in them, when trying to shift, is the problem. only way to fix that, is to never put a drink in there. don't need a plate to cover the holders to do that. lol
