Yeah for the first timer, I always recommend parking your car after you tech it since you have to cool it off anyway - then wandering up to the starting line to familiarize yourself with everything.

Good information here. Gonna go to Fontana on 4/5/14, but only to spectate. Not sure putting a convertible on the track is a good idea.

I'm still figuring out the best way to launch my combo, I have a few new things to try this year.

Then I'll change some stuff to go quicker.

Do, you guys really thing using Launch Mode is a bad idea? I only drag race once a year at the club picnic so i don't have any experience. But it seems like poor engineering to have a feature that if you use will break your car.

I have a 2010 SS Manual. I guess i'll do the old way> Launch mode sounds too good to be true anyway

Great thread John (and others). I'm thinking about taking my car to the local track for the first time and this very helpful info. Thanks for sharing your time and experience.

Depending on the car, you are correct. Watch the other racers to get to know their driving style and adjust your staging technique as needed.

Don't worry about your 60' time or your ET. The idea is to WIN.
