Does this sound like a Scam???

I put my 2013 ZL1 vert up for sale on this forum and on Cars.com. I get no bites here but I get a text from a guy who saw it on Cars.com and he offers me full price for a quick transaction. Car is a gift for his father. Asks for my paypal account info and sends funds. He is going to arrange transport via third party. Paypal will not release funds to me until transport agent is paid. Buyer is out of country and can't get to Western Union. Claims to be an oceanographer. He includes transport fees in what he sends me plus another 100$ for my trouble and asks if I will pay transport guy. I say sure, once funds are in my account I will send 950$ to transport guy.since Paypal will not release funds to me until transport guy is paid I would have to send 950$ via Western Union to a guy in Ohio, prove to paypal I did it, then they release money to me. Really sounds like a scam except I did get an email from Paypal saying the funds had been sent, they just wouldn't release them. Opinions??? I have seen over and over a warning NEVER send funds via Western Union for an internet transaction. Let me know what you think and by the way car is still for sale. Regards, Peter

Uhhhh, yeah...total scam. Also could be a fishing scam to get your paypal password....they send you an email that looks like it's a paypal confirmation, you click on a fake link and enter your paypal password to check if they $$ is in your account.

sounds like a bunch of BS to me. he can hire the transport company himself if it were real deal. trust me you don't want to be the middle man there.

When I sell a car I never get in the middle of the transport deal. that is between the end customer and the transport company.

I have had people oversee's send spoof emails that looked like paypal transactions but were not real.

If a person really wants a car they will just pay you for the car and deal with picking it up. chances are he is trying to scam you out of the transport fee. run away from this.

Its a scam. Most of the time you can Google PayPal overseas 3rd party and cars and it will show you people with the same scam emails

Quick lesson in scams. If you have to present money up front to cover something it is a scam! The other members nailed it, tying to get into your Paypal.

Please believe us when we tell you it's a scam. We might be wrong, but it's not likely.

Sounds unanimous. Funny, when I called the guy on it,and told him I thought it was a scam, his next email was to ask me to email Paypal and cancel the transaction so that he could get his funds back. Peter
