I don't really see a benefit with replacing the brake reservoir because not only will it cost you more money but you'll end up having to do the swap of the reservoirs and then bleed the brakes. I just put a (I think 3/8") rubber vaccum hose plug on it and then put a small hose clamp to make sure it stays on. Hasn't leaked or anything.....works just fine.

Intresting read for those that don't think your clutch fluid can get dirty.

I've been searching for *new* parts to do this job, don't want to use some old stuff from a junk yard.

Ordered mine 10/19; just notified that it is now in (11/04) and ready for Will Call.
Yep, Back Orders notwithstanding, looks like it takes 2-3 weeks to come in if it's not in stock at time of order. Just to verify; It's OK to mix DOT 3 with DOT 4 Brake Fluid ?? |

Is there anyone here who is at least doing the fluid swaps from rangeracceleration.com and is seeing results on their car? Or is that just a bunch of crap . . . ?

OutaTime
that really works well, i wish i knew about it when i 1st got my car. Its very simple like a 5min job. i do it every oil change 5k miles and when ever i feel the fluid get dark. Also ever since i been doing this the fluid has been clear for a longer period of time. No more dark black fluid and crud floating and sticking to the sides. |

Right - the fluid has been clear, but does the pedal still stick on hard launches/driving?

Plugging the OE Brake Reservoir with just a rubber/neoprene cap and clamp gets me to wondering how it will hold up in a Panic Braking scenario. Is this setup strong and secure enough to keep from blowing out?

Outatime.
I bleed my breaks and swapping out the gm dot 3 for castrol synt dot 3 and 4. I haven't done a 3k drop for a while and would like to change out my rear t/a. However I do drive to redline and I haven't missed a gear and clutch has been good. Sometimes spongy but never stuck. But I also have a new t/o bearing which helps. |
