haha see i already forgot to answer some things. the radio behind the dash piece is a double din size, but the mounting tabs are built into the radio, not like a toyota where you can take them off and swap them over. also most of the mount points for the stock unit have to be either cut off or modified to fit the height of the new radio. so its not just a cut and swap thing. there wont ever be a simple dash kit for it, not without an interface box like what i have built. this is the box in action, minus the buttons, i put them on the back side of the box for this one, but that will be changed in later units.

Probly not the right thread but Id like a single DIN for a flip out. Im not big on the screen out all the time. Besides Oakville is a rough hood lol.

well i can do a single din too, its just gonna look a little funny with a large space around the radio. since the factory preset (1,2,3,4,5,6) buttons are moved there is a DIN size of free space. mtoo bad its not the 80's we could thrown an EQ in there lol. Im all for a single din, just dunno how the final look would be. maybe a pocket under the radio would be cool, a nice place to stash the ipod, phone, or some cds.

Yah totally a storage space would be cool. Im sure youll come up with something awesome you obviously have some serious talent and an eye for design and detail.

Aha. So you've basically got both radios in the car. Interesting. Where does this box go? Does it fit behind the dash somewhere?

how do you answer an On-Star call? dig the screen out from under the seat? If so, where is the "enter" button?

Also, where are the "1-6" preset buttons to control the screen for the Vehicle settings menu? (i don't see them in the pic)

Do you have the audio from the dvd/nav system going to the factory Aux input........ and the stock system in AUX mode? Is this how you are still able to use the factory XM radio?

I just went through this process on my wife’s mustang. Even though it seems simple.... it’s really not.

For instance.... You have to get a new satellite receiver because there is no adapters to the factory satellite radio connections (at least not for factory Sirius radio to a Kenwood dvd/nav).

Here are some of the funtions that we could possibly lose...

1) OnStar digital menu (like when you make a call and it shows you the number, and when someone calls you via Onstar and you have to press "enter" to answer it)
2) Steering controls (phone/source/volume)
3) AC/heated seats/defogger
4) built-in Bluetooth / mic /
5) Vehicle settings menu (settings for lights, locks, chimes, etc.)
6) XM Radio (using the factory reciever and antenna)

.....there are many more, but I will need to play with the radio for a while with this in mind.

Just maybe........ GM will make a dvd / nav unit for the 2011's. I would be much more comfortable using one built for a Camaro by GM that will not lose any functionallity... and have it dealer installed.
In this swap if you pictured here you will lose 1, 2, 4, and 6. 3 and 5 will be very non-fun unless you have the stock display somewhere you can see it. You could probably get limited functionality from 1,2,4 and 6 with a bit of work but you will basically have to have both radios with both screens viewable.
