INTERESTING !!! I had mine done today and although mine came in a tad less than some ($140), the dealer told me that GM charges $50 for the download and the other $90 was for the upload to the car time.

Yes, GM can (and most of the time does) charge the dealer $50 for a VCI # which they need to have to make this upgrade. Heres a quote from the PI.

Quote:
You may need to contact Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) for a VCI number to recalibrate the BCM. Since this is not a warrantable repair, TCSC may charge a fee for this service.

Dear Speed Demon,

M-A-N-Y thanks for your help and great pictures. I got the parts from GM Parts Direct (took about three weeks) and installed using your post. Made an appointment with my (clueless) local dealer and took my car in yesterday with a copy of your post of the "official" GM tech sheet stating this can be done. One hour's labor charge, and they were done... buttons work GREAT, and I love them.

Thanks again!

PS. I'm still trying REALLY hard to convince my dealership to do a Bluetooth VCIM upgrade for me!

My service writer told me yesterday when I was in for the button programming that he "still hadn't heard anything back," so I casually went over his head to his service manager... who told me "sure, we can do that for you" and that this "was the first he'd heard of my request." So I guess they are actually going to do this for me, or I have made an enemy and need to go to another dealership?

Yes every time they get a special (vci) program from tech the dealer is charged that $50. If they pass it on to you is up to them. What usually happens is the tech working on the vehicle that actually called techline didnt mention to the advisor that they need to charge an extra 50 so you didnt get charged for it. Their loss your gain. I hope everyone is getting this done without a hitch and enjoying their camaros as much as i am. Id like to know how many we have upgraded so far???
