What type of Oil do you use for your Camaro?

Thread topic says it all. What type of Oil do you use for your Camaro? As I have an SS, I'm specifically targeting other SS owners, but any responses are good responses.

Bonus question: How often do you check your oil?

http://www.gmdexos.com/ My dealer says I have to use it or warranty is void. Not expensive though. Under $4.79 a quart. Not bad from the dealer in GM bottles.

Funny part is the oil fil cap says Mobile 1 only. Dealer did a search on the oil and the labeling on the cap, and the cap was supposed to be blank. They ordered a new one for me. Car was built 2-11...

That's a good price. I'll pick up 2 quarts from the dealership when I head in Saturday to get some work done.

Here's the official list from GM:

Can't argue with the printed word.

I've looked, and have yet to see where Amsoil has been officially Dexos1 certified. Got a link? It's not on the 'official list', but there could be some lag in updates on the list.

I'm not an Amsoil hater. In fact, I want to use it. Just curious where ppl are getting this info.

I'd stick with M1 5w30 over the Amsoil unless you can get a sweet deal.

M1 0w40 also performs very well in the Camaro and all LS engines in general. I believe 5w30 is mostly issued for CAFE reasons..

You don't have to use that oil. Any oil that is dexos certified is acceptable. That AC Delco dexos oil is only a synblend. Use Mobil 1.

Amsoil is not offically licensed, therefore, they are not on GM's list. Amsoil says on their bottles that they meet the spec, and everyone thinks that is good enough. Sorry, it isn't.

Meeting the spec and being certified are two different things.
