Oil change, now 15 degrees hotter ?!

Just noticed today first day out after an oil change, I am running about 220 when she used to run 205

I am thinking pull the oil and filter to start off

the oil change was done in conjunction with a new pan gasket.

Use synthetic only

Yeah, could be, it's been awhile since I have had it out of the garage, maybe I just forgot how hot she burns, lol, today was the first day out since winter storage, I'll keep my eye on it for the next several times out,

Have you checked and topped off your coolant level?

My SS runs between 195-210*F with the coolant at the appropriate levels.

I'll assume you are talking oil temp. Car to car there can be small differences in operation performance and gauge calibration. With that said - mine runs right at the 200 oil temp mark once fully warmed. It rarely climbs above that unless I'm really beating on it.

I don't know if your 20 degree increase is a big concern but I also don't think you can chalk it up to it being a little warmer outside. It can't be very hot in Chicago in April. IMO it would have to be a significantly higher air temp than what you see this time of year to make the oil temp climb.

I think wait, watch and check fluid levels is a good plan for now.

Try running the heater on full hot to move any bubbles out of the heater core.

I see 220 occasionally in stop and go traffic. Oddly it seems to happen more often with temps < 45 deg. Maybe because the fan does not come on as easily.

You know that makes real sense because we were at 45 to 55 and the fan was not turning on, I did not think about that. last year it would have to get pretty darn hot outside for me to hit 220 and it would be in stop and go typically, I am going to check the fluids and run the heater. Well , both good suggestions as well.
