Why not argue the exhaust is an appearance mod? Those garbage cans in the back look horrible. You get the extra benefit of making the car sound better, too. Other's will notice that as well.

I bought it for the looks. I had no idea I'd even be interested in performance...until after I started reading on this forum. I'm not taking it to the track or drag strip. I don't street race. I've done mostly cosmetic but I've been doing minor performance changes in tandem with cosmetics such as intake, TB, exhaust, headers (in the next couple weeks) tune (in a month or two).

I say there is a balance with performance and presence, but IMHO performance takes priority over presence. No sense in having something looking fast when it is not fast (local ricers come to mind!).

I did a cheap muffler delete just after I got my car to make it sound good. After that all my modds have been looks. I'm happy with the preformance for now. This is the fastest car I've personally own so I don't need faster right now. I've added hockey and hood stripes, a 3D Carbon body kit, aftermarket rims, and painted all the emblems. I did everything in flat black and painted the drums of the rims RJT to match the body. The car has never failed to turn heads and get comments.

Do order of importance. If a catchcan is on your list, do it first; then anything mechanical that would either prolong the life of your car, or give you a noticeable boost in power or MPG.

Then do the other stuff concurrently.

I went back-and-forth.....stripes then CAI then bowtie delete then TB then billet aluminum interior and exterior trim now LTs and a tune......next either muffler delete and/or catback. It's different for everyone depending on their wallet, time, and what is important to them. That'e what makes this site great; we all give each other new ideas.

I have a laundry list of mods I still want to do on the car. Some cosmetic (rockers, splitter etc) and some performance based (CAI, exhaust etc). Now, I am trying to do them simultaniously, a little here and a little there, but my wife asked, "If you don't intend to race, why wouldn't you do the cosmetic stuff first and make the car look the way you want before worrying about performance mods? People SEE those, no one will know about the performance mods except you?" I replied with, "The car speaks for itself visually, I am looking forward to the little extra performance, better sound in my exhaust note etc."

We went back and forth with this for a while. I still intend to do them both in tandum, but I am curious about you guys. Did or do you place more emphasis on aesthetics or performance? Hypothetically, would you prefer to have a BEAST running 9's that looked like crap (Not that any camaro could look like crap, this is hypothetical) or a showpiece that barely edges out a prius? (Again hyperbole used for effect lol)..
I prefer the beast that looks like shit running 9s
