Wats up with 6th??
Hey guys...my 2ss is great thru the first five gears.. It pulls great, accelerates hard.... But when I engage into 6th... It loses that forceful grunt to it and feels kinda blah.... I've had camaros before but in Btwn I drove sti's and evo's so maybe it's just me not being used to it. It almost feels like it doesn't wanna accelerate hard in sixth. Any thoughts??

Yeah makes sense.... I just been used to constant spoiling of turbos creating gobs of acceleration....

Fifth gear is .84:1 overdrive, sixth is .57:1 overdrive. That's a huge overdrive, nearly two revolutions of the driveshaft to one rev of the engine.
Top speed in the Camaro and the Corvette can't be reached in 6th because of this high gearing. Top speed can only be reached in 5th gear.

Great gas mileage on the highway in 6th.
75 MPH, running at about 1800 RPM and getting 25-28 MPG. Just don't try to pass anyone!!! |

your question is like asking why wont my car go 130 mph in 2nd gear.. its because of the gearing.. sti's 6th gear is geard probably around what our 5th gear is..

intake,tsp cam,full exhaust,pcmforless tune,trailing arms,toe rods. hopeing for 11.9 because my g/f said she will take the cam and the suspension back if not. |
