Engine clatter on start up!

I have experienced this noise only on start up after sitting a day or two in the garage. Sounds like lack of oil lubrication either in the upper valve body or rod bearings to me. Only lasts for 1-2 secs.

Concerned at 600 miles...hoping it part of break in and still to tight???

I just got the new part put on my car today. The noise is gone. No weird noises coming from behind the glove box at rpms. The coffee maker has been removed (thats kind of what it sounded like in my car - a ticking/water moving type sound).

So if you're experiencing any weird sounds coming from behind your glove box just take your car to the dealer and they should know what it is and order you the part.

Here's the description of what was done.

Checked and installed coolant restictor as e per TSB 09-01-37-001 for noise from heater area.

Parts
- 10188036 - valve as
- 12337820 - strap, I/
- 1470030 - clamp

Would it be possible for anyone to get me a copy of the TSB for this? It looks pretty simple and the parts are cheap. I would rather do this myself. I try to keep my vehicles away from dealers as much as possible. They seem to last longer that way.

My car also has the built-in coffee maker somewhere behind the glovebox. Strange, I can't seem to find it listed on the window sticker. If it would only serve up coffee while I'm on the move I wouldn't complain.

My car has a build date of August 09. Though this problem is most noticeable moving off briskly in 2nd and 3rd gears, it also there when I apply the slightest pressure to the accelerator in 6th gear at low rpm (eg: from 55-60mph). In other words, it doesn't correlate with RPM, gear selection, or road speed.

AC on or off makes no difference.

GM has known about this issue on various models since 2004, yet complaints about this problem are still appearing on forums 5 years later.

If anyone can post the TSB for this I would be very grateful. Like the previous poster, I prefer to avoid dealers like the plague.

I noticed this sound today also. It's not very loud, it's a clicking sound. I had to turn the radio off in order to hear it. I'm gonna have to make an appointment at the dealership and try to get it fixed.

I almost wonder if it has something to do with the auto volume but it is turned off. I'm hoping it's not being caused by the drivetrain. Also it did not happen every time. Noise would come and go. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions??

Didn't drive the car that long cause the weather was getting bad today. Will listen for it again next time I'm in the car and hopefully describe it better.
Car has 200 miles on it and I have had it for a week. Used the A/C also for the first time today. Wonder if that has something to do with it?
Hope you got this worked out. A lot of the new camaros are having this problem. Have the dealership check TSB 09-01-37-001. This will explain how to fix the problem.

I heard the same noise. I took it to dealer today and they had the valve in stock. Picked it up in the afternoon and no more noise.
