Noise

SScam15, I have the same noise. It is driving me nuts. Sounds like speaker but the stereo is off. I thought wind noise but can't find it.

Taking it in this week...hopefully this will be the end and when spring comes I won't have to worry about anything.

TSB 09-01-37-001 did the trick. See other thread for reference.

Mine does this, automatic 2SS. Haven't tried changing the air source.

I had this noise and after doing a search found this thread. I went to my dealer and told them about the issue and the TSB. They ordered the parts and fixed the problem.

But now, about two weeks later, the noise is back but it's a bit different. The sound is still the same but the noise only comes at around 3k rpms and during moderate to hard acceleration.

Anyone have this issue reoccur after the fix? Any ideas? I'm planning on going back to my dealer on Monday.

My strange noise coming from the back was the passanger side muffler breaking apart inside. Dealer ordered a new one, now I wait!

I have this noise. It sounds like a thin metal cable vibrating against a piece of sheet metal. Its not a liquid gurgling noise, more of a rapid clicking noise.

It occurs at 2-3k rpms in all gears. If I push in the clutch and coast it will linger for 1-2 seconds then go away. Engage the clutch, it comes back.

Great description, I have the EXACT same noise under the EXACT same conditions... not a gurgling... it seems to really happen once the car has warmed up.... I haven't had a chance to bring it by a dealer, I would assume they would think it was the heater coil TSB, but who knows....

I have this same exact noise and noticed it the first time on the drive home from picking up the car. 1300 miles now and still gurgling.

Mine is DEFINITELY a liquid gurgling sound and it's coming from the dash above the glovebox area. Non existent below 3000 rpm, always there when not fully warmed above that rpm and is lessened once the car is fully warmed and the HVAC temp is moved to hot.

I have heard this noise on other cars after I do something like a coolant flush or whatever. Usually it goes away after a couple running cycles, but it's not going anywhere in my car. Glad there is a fix, and glad it was confirmed to be coolant/heater hose related because that is exactly what it sounds like!

Thanks for the info!!

NOTE: I wanted to mention that this sound is sort of a clicking/tapping sound but it is DEFINITELY liquid gurgling through a hose w/ air bubbles and such - that's what it sounds like.

Well the got the part today, BUT GM sent the whole exhaust not just the one Muffler, maybe they are afraid the left side one would go bad too?

sounds like A/C condensation build-up that doesn't have any place to drain(those inhabiting warmer climates). not sure if this has been mentioned before, either(TSB)..

..other things mentioned about the stickers near moving/vibrating parts shouldn't be that audible..

I did the heater hose TSB and it made the noise go away.

It's called heater gurgle and there is a TSB in the system. Just take the car to a dealer point to the glove box and complain about a light pinging noise. They will install a one way valve that prevents coolant from dripping onto the heater core. I've seen the TSB. The valve's P/N is 10188036. Hose clamps and zip ties is all you need beyond that.
