There is no need to stop jacking my thread... This is the internet which is serious business, but this thread certainly isn't serious... It's always open to friends and strangers alike... You fit in both of those categories... but, then so do I, if I can be my own friend...

That's all changed, I have been in the hospital in rio all night... I'm cut up and beat up and looking at knee surgery AGAIN... Three of us were down on the pontoon changing the tow bridle when an unusually large wave struck and washed us off the rig. Two of us went under the rig into the agitator cycle and got beat half to death... We are tentatively scheduled to fly back to the states tonight... Several million lbs of steel hitting you on the head and driving you 20 or so feet under water several times sux..... We are very very fortunate to still be amongst the living... Those of you that have met me, think about me floating in rough seas, no remaining hard hat, and a red halo of blood on top of my head... Barnacles and steel hurt...

Thanks Em, they just drained lots of fluid off my knee, and immobilized it... We will be heading to the airport in a little while, day room, and should fly out tonight.....

Garcmol, that's what I said right before the wave hit... I had a double handful death grip on a rope we had tied off, and I might as well have dove off for all the good that did me.... Fifteen foot waves laugh at us mere mortals... The bow of the rig was going down with wave action, and this freak wave got us... The next statement after holy shooooooooot, to quote Tag, was holy F%^#... Then my next thought was having company reps go to my house and tell my wife what happened the day after my tenth anniversary...

I've cried in relief, and laughed about parts of it... Trying to relieve the stress of it and how close it was...

Yeah, hitting someone with a bucket of water can knock them on their ass. 15' wave? Well, hands are only so strong. Happy your still here and no one's knocking on the door back home.

Robert, It is good to hear you are OK. You have a very dangerus job and it manifested itself this time.

I shutter to think what was going through your mind while under water.

Just glad you are OK.

R -

Above and beyond everything else I am glad that you are OK. This could have ended in a much worse scenario. That being said I hope you are feeling better. An event like that makes you rethink your priorities. When you have Sea State 6 or better, that is some scary stuff.

Anyway, take it easy and give yourself some "down" time to heal.
