Stock 2012 L99 2/SS vs Stock 2012 Jeep Cherokee SRT-8 round two.
Weekend before last hit the track with my good friend and his 12 Jeep Cherokee SRT-8 6.4 470hp.
Got a little better at launching my car since last trip so I was curious to see how much it would help. Both the Jeep and my L99 are bone stock on street tires. And like fools we both were running with a full tank of gas lol. Weather was very hot and humid that night so everything was running off its pace. We were a few tenths and MPH slower than last time we ran in the cold. We both were running the same E.T's 13.7's and 13.8's, I was trapping at 104mph and the Jeep at 100mph. As long as I did not give him anything at the light we ran side by side most of the track till near the end where I would pull away. If I gave him the slightest edge on the light he would shot out front off the line and I would reel him in but not before he got the win light. Great racing, always a blast to run that Jeep. Definitely did better than the last round, we were about 50/50 this time where last he won most of the runs. |

Shouldn't a stock L99 run better than 13.7@104? Most times I see are low 13s at 108ish mph

Yeah hot and humid as hell, normal Florida summers night.
That humidity seems to just make the car feel like it's winded, plus the extra weight of a full tank I'm sure wasn't a help either. I was three tenths and two mph of my best times. But everyone was slow that night, the guys I ran with the Audi S4 and Lexus ISF were also saying the same. |

Bench racing it does indeed seem that the newer WK2 SRT8s run a smidge slower, due to the increase in weight, vs the WK1s. Very close, stock for stock, though against an L99.
Bad air, 2.2x 60 ft, and stock I ran 13.6 @ 106 on balding pzeros. Amazing air, 2.0x 60 ft, and PTB/intake/headers/tune put me at 12.6 @ 112 on all seasons. The difference really is night and day. |

My brother has an 07 GC SRT8 stock and he runs low 13's in really good air and 13.5 on a crappy day. We did have some fun and stripped everything out of the interior and ran a couple 12.9's. When I was learning to launch my car it would be a interesting race to the 1/8th mile.
