67 camaro vinly top owners Look here please.

Recently I bought a 1967 camaro with a vinyl top. It was installed in 1996. A friend here locally has a super sweet 67 rsss car that just got a new vinyl top installed. The question I have is on my car on the A pillar the seam on the vinyl top faces down towards the hood. On my friends new top it faces up towards the roof. Which one is right? I think they screwed up on his. Please post photos of your seams so that he can hammer them if its wrong. If mines wrong I really don't care, however he paid a big name national shop hugh money for this top. LMK thanks andy
I already posted this in the 1st gens section with no responces. Putting it here hoping for one.

well I certainly couldn't say which one would be RIGHT.....but if it were me, I would think you would want it facing UP. The reason being that the wind that would be hitting it would tend to push down on it and keep everything in place. Where as if it were facing DOWN the wind could get to its edge and tend to try to peal it up.

Hmmm....I mostly deal with '69 Camaros. Didn't even realize the '67-'68 had their vinyl go down the A pillar until I looked a pics because of your question. My '69 that has a vinyl top doesn't go down the A pillar.

I was about to post a picture of my '69 and then decided to go take a look at a '67 and realized they are different. Learn something new everyday.

Still I'm a little confused about the where the seam is. The only seam I know about is on the top. Any way you can post a picture? I can try to ask the guys in my 1st Gen club. Alot of knowledgable people there.

Couple other suggestions....post at Camaros.net, they are geared more towards the earlier Camaros. Second option would be to call someone at Firewheel Classics or maybe Gary's Classics and see if they know.

LOL...at least she feels like trying.

heRS...don't ask your friend. They'll look at you like you're crazy. Convertibles have convertible tops. Vinyl tops go on a hard top and make it kind of look like it's a convertible but it's not.

I don't have pictures although the seam ( Almost positive ) should face down. Other wise water will penatrate it.

Yes....I know that but I don't own a '67 or '68 with a vinyl top. I was just posting to show what a vinyl top is.

The roof vinyl should fold over the A-Pillar vinyl.
