Exclamation

Come on people! Don't let me be the only Camaro on the track! There are two rustangs showing and I don't want to be solely responsible for defending the Camaro legacy with my first time on a road course. Where's the backup?!

The latest weather forecast for Desert Center (Chuckwalla) on the 25th is sunny with temps in the mid to upper 70s. Perfect track day weather!

If you can't make this one, you can now register for the second event of the Series, to be held March 31 and April 1 at Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Nevada. Send me a PM and I'll give you the code to get a 14% discount. If we get to 15 participants, the discount jumps to 21%. That would mean two full days of track time on what I consider to be the best road course in the West, plus the use of a transponder for the weekend for just $325! I also have Las Vegas Hotel & Casino registration info, if you are interested.

The first event of the 2012 Angelwing Tech Extreme Speed Track Day Series is in the books and a member of the SoCal Camaro 5 Family is the points leader in the Modified Pony Car division.

Travis Adams was attending his first track day, but his impressive lap time of 2:15.9 in his 2010 Camaro SS at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway beat out more experienced drivers. Well done, Travis!

Now it's on to Spring Mountain Motor Resort for event number two. Come join us!

We received notice yesterday that the third event of the Angelwings Tech Extreme Speed Pony Car Track Day Series, scheduled for May 26 at Streets of Willow has been canceled. We had no say in the matter.

We are replacing the date with a 2-day event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on June 2nd and 3rd. You can run either day or both, with a discounted registration fee of just $90 per day. The fee also covers the cost of the use of a transponder, so it's a deal. I'll have registration info soon, so contact me if you are interested.

Sorry to all of you who were planning on joining us at Streets. But we do still have two dates at Streets on the schedule, in August and in December. We hope you will come join us at Buttonwillow or one (or more) of our other track day events.

It looks like Travis will again be the only Gen5 Camaro at the Angelwings Tech Extreme Speed Track Day Series event at Spring Mountain next weekend. But there will be several Corvettes on the track, including my '01. Spring Mountain is my favorite track. We'll be running the 3.4-mile configuration. There may be a few spots left, if anyone is interested. We're getting a great deal from our hosts, the Las Vegas Region of the Porsche Club of America.

I'll have registration info for the June 2nd & 3rd Series event at Buttonwillow shortly. I don't think that Travis will be able to make that one, so someone else will have to represent!

If this took place on the east coast I would be in at every event! Jealous as hell. If you want to see what these cars can do, take it to a sponsored track event. Your "permagrin" will grow even wider. Post up some pics -

Mine hasn't gone away from the last track day. Can't wait for Vegas next weekend! Will get some video and post to YouTube at some point after.

Will check it out. We are going to Watkins Glenn in June. Can't get here soon enough. Hope to run VIR soon. Nothing beats coming off last corner and planting the peddle down a good front stretch! Have a great time......

Spring Mountain finally posted the lap times from the second Series event on mylaps.com, so I've been able to update the Series standings.

Camaro5 SoCal Family member Travis Adams has won the modified Pony Car division at both Series events held to date. But he deploys next week and won't be back until the fall. So he will miss at least the next two events. The stock and supermodified divisions remain wide open.

If you have not attended a Series event, it's not too late. The overall championship is based upon your top five finishes and there are six events remaining on the calendar. Or join us for an event or two (or three) and just take advantage of the group rate discounts we offer.

The next event of the Series is at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield on June 2nd and 3rd. The cost is just $120 for one day or $210 for both, including a transponder. I'll have registration and hotel info posted soon. Or send an email to craig@angelwingstech.com and I'll add you to my list.

I have the registration info for the next event of the Angelwings Tech Extreme Speed Track Day Series, which takes place on Sat. June 2nd and Sun. June 3rd at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield. That's less than 4 weeks away, so don't delay. Space is limited!

We have a special rate for both days, but your best lap time for only one day will count toward the points championship. So if you can make it for only one day, you are not at a disadvantage. If you are planning on attending both days, you must tell me prior to June 2nd which day you are choosing for your lap times to count. As we found out at Spring Mountain, the wind and weather can have a big effect, so your best times might not be on the second day.

If you have not attended a Series event, it's not too late to compete for the division championships. Only the points from your best 5 finishes count toward your championship total and 6 events remain on the calendar. Or just take advantage of the great group discounts we offer and join us for a few events.

The cost for each day is cheaper than I published previously - just $100, including the transponder. That's a savings of $30 per day!

I will be staying Friday and Sat. nights at the SpringHill Suites Bakersfield. Their AAA room rate including taxes is about $99/night. It includes a free breakfast and a refrigerator in your room. The track is about 30 min. away.

Send an email to craig@angelwingstech.com for the registration and hotel info.

I've never been to Buttonwillow, but I hear that it is a very fun track. I believe we will be running layout 13 CW, so check out those you tube vids!

Craig

While some of us prepare for Buttonwillow this weekend, there is news regarding the next event of the Angelwings Tech Extreme Speed Pony Car Track Day Series.

We've scheduled two events back-to-back: Willow Springs (big track) on Sat. Aug. 11 and Streets of Willow on Sun. Aug. 12. But we've been informed by Extreme Speed Track Events (the event organizer) that the Aug. 11 date has been canceled. It's disappointing, because I thought it would be a great chance to get in a lot of track time without doing a lot of travelling.

I have an alternate plan. Another organizer, Shift-Sector has offered us our own run group at Streets of Willow on that Saturday, Aug. 11. To make it worthwhile, I need to get a commitment from at least 12 participants. The cost will range between $90 and $150, depending upon how many participate. We can run as many as 20 in the group.

The Sunday, Aug. 12 event will be at Streets as planned. BOTH DAYS WILL COUNT TOWARD THE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP. So in one weekend, you can pick up as many as 20 points in your division. Streets of Willow doesn't have the high speeds of the big track, but it is great fun. My signature photo was taken there (thanks, Mark!) on Dec. 31.

If you are interested in joining us for the Saturday, Aug. 11 track day, I need to hear from you ASAP!! Yes, I realize it's over 2 months away, but to get the run group, I need to be making the deal very soon.

Craig

After a long, hot summer break it's time to get back to the track and turn it loose! The next event of the Angelwings Tech Extreme Speed Track Day Series is Sunday, Oct. 7 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

We will be participating in a track day hosted by Speed Ventures. To register, go to http://www.speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=387

Be sure to select the options for a transponder and a garage. At step 8, enter "Angelwings Tech" as the discount code. The cost is $190, a $40 discount, as long as we get at least 4 participants. If 9 or more register, there will be an additional $20 discount. You must register by Sept. 24 to get the discount.

You may register for both days, and the price will remain $190 per day, with the transponder and garage included, provided at least 4 register for both days. POINTS FOR THE SERIES WILL BE AWARDED BASED UPON YOUR BEST LAP TIME ON SUNDAY. Sunday will likely be the less crowded day, as the Corvette Challenge and others are running on Saturday. We will not have our own run group. Please sign up for the group with which you feel most comfortable, based upon your experience.

If you have no track day experience, you should register for the "white" group on Saturday for $139. You will be given instruction and get some laps under your belt before you run with us on Sunday.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. With 4 events to go, the Series championships are all wide open. Only your top 5 points finishes count toward the championship, so even if you have not run a Series event this year, you can still win your division title!

Craig

The next events in the Series will be Saturday, Nov. 24 and Sunday, Nov. 25 (the weekend after Thanksgiving) at Streets of Willow near Rosamond, CA. We'll run the course clockwise on Saturday, then counter-clockwise on Sunday. Both days count toward the Series championships.

The cost is just $200 for both days, including a transponder, if we get to at least 5 participants. If not, it is still only $110 per day.

Streets is the most technical course we will run in the Series, making it a fun and challenging weekend. For registration or other info, contact me at craig@angelwingstech.com.

The last Angelwings Tech Extreme Speed Track Day Pony Car Series event will be Saturday, Dec. 29 at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway near Desert Center, CA. Star Car Sports is offering a registration fee of $175 for one day. Or run Saturday and Sunday for $325.

We will try to negotiate with them to get the $150 per day rate, including a transponder that we got last February. We had to have at least 12 registrants to get the discount. So we need to know ASAP how many are interested this time. Who is in? Email craig@angelwingstech.com for more info.
