Are you saving your stock parts?

I have complete stock SS exhaust, side rockers, rear spoiler, grill, springs, struts, valve covers, shifter, numerous engine parts and probably more.

Is there any point in hanging on to these stock parts?

I've got a few things but haven't been keeping much for the last couple of years. No resale for them it seems, tons for sale.

I'm saving everything just incase I need to sell my car in stock configuration or if an aftermarket part fails I will have the original to go back to use. I have done that for all my cars and motorcycles and am starting to run out of room because I don't get rid of anything!

I live in California, so I have to save any stock part that has to do with emissions so that when I have do a smog check for registration, I can put those parts back on.

As a pre-owned Manager of a Chevrolet Dealership I can chime in with agreeing to keep Stock parts as much as you can. If I were to appraise a Camaro 5 for example and it was modified with an intake, exhaust and springs I know I just cut out a percentage of buyers.

We had a 2000 Corvette get traded in this summer that was dropped about 2.75" with Corsa Exhaust and Headers and 5/7 customers asked if we could raise it. There is an ass for every seat but finding that Ass isn't always the easiest.

Yeah Steve. I have a few OE things lying around. Hood, trunk, wheels & tires, diff., exhaust (manifolds, cats & cat back), front & rear struts and springs, brake callipers & rotors, sways & links, rear trailing arms & toe rods, throttle body, ww bottle, shifter, tail lights & markers, grill and a few things I probably forgot.

The thought was, if trading in, to return the car to original. I've kept it a little longer that I thought and modded somewhat beyond bolt ons. Might be better to find the "right ass for the seat" myself when the time comes as there will be some labour required to put back to OE.

Some things like the 1LE splitter, ZL1 rockers and rear valence will be left no matter what. Can't undo the rear valence so it may as well all stay on as it works together. Might have to find an NPP 1LE exhaust if the Magnaflow is a problem.

Anyway, we're keeping it for awhile yet so other than storing the parts no worries for now.

All that to say...if you have the space, hang on to the OE stuff until you decide if your going to pull the trigger on that 16 ZL1 later next summer.

My problem is my last son has moved out (finally ) and there is talk of moving to a smaller home. Parts may have to go in the dumpster.

I keep all my stock parts, it does take up space but too many times I wished I had them still, so I keep all .
