Z28 Convertible?

Since the 'vert is out, do you think we'll have to wait long after the Z is unveiled to see a 'vert version?

I don't see how they can wait much longer than one year to bring out the Z28/HPE convertible. If it is introduced for the '13 MY, then it would likely be in production for only 2 model years if the gen5 Camaro is introduced for the '15 model year.

Which raises another question: Won't Chevy need to upgrade the car's power for the '14 model year to compete with the all-new Mustang?

I think we will see the convertible for the "Higher End" Camaro probably the next model year after so as to have another new model to keep the excitement alive and interest going until the next generation car arrives sometime in the 2014/2015 model run. Stretching out the release dates for special model during the lifespan of this model is what GM stated all along to keep sales.

I have to agree. If you check out the mark up on the current 'vert against the coupe that same markup would make a Z28 vert a pretty pricey ride. At that point, there probably wouldn't be much difference in price between a Corvette and an Z 'vert.

I'd hope they could roll a ragtop out right away. The structure looks like it's pretty stout (certainly moreso than the pony) so I'm sure they've already got a good roadmap for Z28. The additional performance I expect Z28 will give us will tax the chassis more, though, I'm sure, but I'm betting GM will probably use something like the magneto' shocks to cope with that.

What I'd be thinking about, like most everyone is posting, is the price. You gotta' pay to play.

If the GT500 has a vert you can be pretty sure there will be a Z/28 vert. This is especially true since we now know the SS vert has a solid structure (although over 200lbs more).
