SLP Quality Control???? Really
WOW sad day!! To make a long story short this is my Second set of Wheels from SLP!! The first set all 4 wheels had Knicks and Scraps. This was approx one and half moths ago. The actual order was placed over 2 months ago. So while on vacation this past week SLP re shipped out new replacement wheels. No signature required and UPS just left at my door step for DAYS!! Lucky no one wanted a free set of wheels to sell on black market. This is how one of the boxes appeared when walking up to my door.
I thought it would be best to check inside and this is what I found around the lip of now the second set of Wheels. Anyone know where SLP is located?? Wasn't sure out in the desert somewhere or they just leave paint booth wide open for anything to land in the paint. No way I would put this on my car!! You can see it standing looking over the wheel. The Tire will not cover this. In direct sunlight even more visible. Amazed at the lack of quality control from SLP. I hate to even open the other three. I hate to post this type of information, but thought others should know and be made aware of what condition items have been coming in. Maybe this will spawn someone over at SLP to take notice of what is coming out of there shop. Funny note---When speaking with SLP about first set of wheels being blemished they stated they took photos of every wheel that left there facility!! I wonder who ok this to leave?? |

Shipping blows in general anymore. I paid $300.00 shipping for a new painted front bumper (oversized and special packaging rates) and it still came in broken. The second order came in fine. I ordered a couple of SLP items direct from SLP and they came in perfect condition. (ZL rear spoiler/ ZL splitter)

Something fishy here. I have never have any problems with SLP products. I would call and speak to a manager..

Sucks, hope you get it worked out. Question,or an rather an observation. I do a ton of online buying and for whatever reason 99.99999999% of my purchases 'mod' related were signature required???? Just seems odd IMO

Did you pay full price for them, or buy a "Blem" set? Just curious as I know they offer a lower price for blems.

This was a full price set. The first set received had nicks and damage areas so talked to SLP and they had UPS pick up and claimed as shipping damage. FYI this order was placed first of the year. Once the wheels were picked up I had to call SLP and inquire when the exchange wheels would be coming since a month had gone by with no word or sign of second set. That call was made two weeks ago and the second set apparently arrived on my door step without signature required (left of doorstep) while on vacation.
I was actually surprised wheels were left without a required signature. As you can see the box is damaged and I would have never signed off on these since issue with first set. |

So give them a call tomorrow and tell them the second set is damaged. (Is the whole set damged or just one?) Tell them to double check them before shipping and send with a signature confirmation. I'm sure they'll make it right.

Plan on calling tomorrow for sure. Haven't opened the other wheels yet. After seeing this one from the second set a refund might be the better way to go. More about wasting time and energy dealing with it. Shouldn't take all this time and effort to get a decent product first go around. I will have to take some more pics of the packaging. The wheels literally come in a cardboard box with Zero padding and covered with a thin sheath over the front of wheel. Its paper thin.

This is how they came packaged..Knowing that UPS had a field day with them last time you would think some padding might be in order. Check out the Hair net they used over the top of the wheel to keep safe. Can you see the wheel through the black mesh??
Thats nothing though. Need to take some photos of the other boxes that have holes in them and the handles ripped open where you can actually see the inner part of the wheel. If they were handled rough at all just begging for damage. Hair net |

Oh but wait it gets even better...When I was setting the hair net back down in the box I just noticed this area on the same wheel. Does this bulging area in the paint look right?? I would love to see there photos taken prior to these wheels shipping.
You can see it up on the left hand side in the grey paint. Was going to put an arrow pointing to it but hard to miss |

Sent you the PM with my thoughts but please update so we know how it turns out. My AR Torq Thurst rims (from Wheels Warehouse) had a plastic ring around the edge so there wouldn't be any damage. Not very good packaging on the part of SLP

That sucks. The "hair net" is normal for many wheel suppliers. Usually kept in place with a plastic ring over it to protect the lip.

As for dirt in the paint a couple of specs no problem, but this wheel should have never left the facility. I did get in touch with SLP and going to return wheels without replacements. I really wanted SLP wheels for my setup, but hate to just keep receiving and returning wheels. Its already been a 3 mo ordeal. |
