It only does it once and its when the car first starts moving after you start it up. It wont do it any other time.

Guys/gals does it only do it in cold weather or after the car has set like over night? If so very common on the GTO's and seems to be the same on the Camaro. Its something with the fuel pump or related to that area. At least on the GTO'S it was very consistant when a cold engine in winter. You usually heard 6 tapping sounds when you first started it. Never did it in the summer. This may not be what your hearing but sounds like it. If so theres really nothing wrong.

Could be fluid in the valve body causing something. I'd bring it in for a check up. better safe than sorry. (fuel pump not located near transmission but hard to know from within exactally where noise is coming from)

I've noticed this as well, does it once when i first start moving forward from being parked(manual trans in neutral / parking brake on). I don't know how it sounds outside the car but inside is noticeable. I could be something to do with the parking brake. I don't think it does it when backing out of the garage

Kust read another thread. (don't remember which one) another member had to have a new trans put in because a bearing went. sounded like the same issue you are talking about.

I hear popping and it's done it for 6 months now. The car is fine. And I haven't had any one that has rode w/ me ask about it. So, I've told myself it's fine.

Maybe it's those HUGE resonators warming up and expanding.

Honestly, I don't notice it anymore. I don't know if it went away or I just got used to it.

The HIDs are real projector HIDs, that sound when you press the high beams, is the shutter going up.
To the op, does the car make a popping/crackling sound when you decelerate?
The pop you are talking about, is it several or just one?

I do not have a Camaro (yet) but could it be the ABS triggering? Every car that I have had (GM, Chrysler, Honda) the ABS makes a sound when the car gets going forward and it sets, just a thought.

I hear the same noise with my SS. It sounds like the trunk is trying to lock. I think it is a valve going through its cycle.

I have a sound like a backfire from the muffler when I start the engine and it is hot. It does not make this sound when the engine is cold.

Any one else have this sound?

Thanks

I have experienced the knocking or tapping sound when it was verry cold. It sounded like someone was knocking on the back of my car and scared the crap outta me. it seems ok and never done it when warm. what does bother me is a loud pop that happens when I let off the clutch to take off in reverse or first. I stuck my head out the window and listened, it popped pretty loud every time I let off the clutch to move in 1st or reverse. I only notice it loud after it its been sitting for long time. Is this related or something else?

So is it safe to assume that this issue is normal? I've experience this issue since day one, I guess its not much of a issue since it only happens once during acceleration after first start up....

CyberDan, I would have to agree with most of the suggestions on this thread in which you should get the vehicle checked to make sure this is "normal" for the vehicle. If not then the dealership you take it to should be able to fix the problem for you. I hope that helps you.
