Supposedly, nobody. Only 30 cars are supposed to roll off the line the first month. And there is speculation that these will be the Media Fleet cars

Does it come in BLACK?

The way i see it....so what if they do get back ordered. Just gives me or someone else like me more time to save money to go towards it. The more money you save the more the car is YOURS and not YOURS/the BANK! I hate banks!

the first car will go to the GM Heritage Collection... who gets the first production model available to the populus will probably be an eBay auction, or some other auctioneering company, that will have the benefits going to a charity.
something else that hasn't been discussed is that the Camaro will have to be built somewhere... and with the production work that has to go into the car, which everyone else has talked about, you also have to have the production capacity to build it... so if we just started building Camaros tomorrow, what would have to be cut to do so? Malibus? nope, can't cut that... too many sold every year. Impalas? no, probably not... Chevy's only big car and still one of its best sellers. Monte Carlos are going away, right? so lets let the Camaro be built in its place! nope, that wont work... that car was built on the same platform as the Impala, so if you put the Camaro in there, you'd have to have a second type of driveline to be built, and that's not gonna work. trucks? SUVs? sales are slumping, so lets use one of those facilities! not gonna happen... GM has invested too much of its time and energy into making the entire truck line a viable, profittable market for itself... no logic in cutting into the trucks produciton to build a sports car that, even if its a huge hit, will probably only sell 250,000-300,000 units a year max. the longer the wait, the sweeter the payoff... but I am looking forward to seeing what they show at NAIAS 2008... gonna be hard to top the 'vert Concept.

I thought they're going to wait for the last of the FWD impala's to roll out of Oshawa, and then pop Camaro in there...
besides Oshawa is being(if not already) rigged to be a multiple vehicle assembly line. Zeta's next to trucks... |

you're right, they are adapting Oshawa to be a multi vehicle assembly line... but that would still cut into someone's production numbers... and just cutting out the Monte isn't going to do it, because they dont sell nearly as many of those as they are planning to sell of the Camaro... more capacity and remodelling of the Oshawa facility will be done before the Camaro will be produced there... and the RWD Impala will probably arrive after the Camaro, so you can almost bet that the mutiple platform assembly line in Oshawa will be up to 100% status before either of them will be built there... and, as with everything that everyone else has listed, this just adds more time to the wait.

Camaro will be built in Oshawa. I am 98% sure of that. Remember reading it somewhere.

There are two plants in owhawa, beside each other. One makes trucks, the other makes cars. And I don't think that anything will have to be cut since they are consistently at the top of the list for productivity for all the plants in north america

Oshawa and the Impala is getting its production cut, this has been touted about by the people in the Oshawa plant.

Well said! Things that happen in a hurry don't usually turn out very well. Think of the bright side, waiting awhile lets you put a few more pennies in the bank! Okay, that doesn't make me feel better either...

welll --- I guess the good thing is that so many people can hardly wait for us to build them.......(and trust me - if we could build 'em sooner, we would -- we could use the cash!)
Work started in earnest in late August of 2006-- we start building 'em in October of 2008-- that's 26 months....... There are actually three plants in Oshawa -- two passenger plants and a truck plant. Monte and GP go away -- Impala and Lacrosse production will move to one of the passenger plants -- and the other passenger plant will go under rennovation -- |

Bad Marketing
I agree, a bad marketing job by GM and Chevy. Because of the length of time until sales will begin, Chevy has given every other manufacturer a head start on their versions of the throwback cars.
By the time the new camaro is available, we will have a new Challenger and I am sure new versions of Mustangs, Chargers, etc. People who purchase these cars now will not be in the market for a camaro when/if it comes out. What were they thinking.
