Who has the LS3 painted engine cover - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Before I order my car, I need some details on some of the options. It seems none of my dealers know much beyond the basics.

I'll start with the Painted Engine Cover for the LS3. Sorry...another post on engine covers. I searched this forum, but couldn't find the answer.

The brochure shows the engine cover sides painted the body color and the center part (over the intake manifold) painted silver or aluminum in color (see below). But somewhere, I thought I saw that center piece as black plastic.

So, which is it...painted silver plastic as pictured below, or plain ol' black plastic?

That looks amazing. Question? Do you have to use a "special" paint since it's in such a high heat area?

Mine is the same, the sides are black (matches my car and just as shiny) and the center is just flat plastic black.

Yes, why spend more money on another cover.. when you already have one that just needs some color added.... Paint IT!!!

I dont think the painted engine covers are painted, they are molded in the particular color

abm cost me a little more it was about 300 bucks but next one about 175 . abm has about 12 tints and my body shop had 11 of the tints the one tint that he didnt have was a aqua blue pearl tint i think which was 129.00 for a pint i think it was .so now i have that tint with my name on it . took about 1 hour to tape it up and then about 2 min to spray .then wait to dry then clear it . over all excellent job . find a shop that has al;l the tints and should be cheaper .
