Headers/Hiflow cat with stock exhaust

ok so im about to pull the trigger on some OBX headers with high flow cats ( i dont want to any comments on the header brand please)
What im wondering is if i'm correct that these will connect to the OEM exhaust or do i need to replace the h-pipe for an x-pipe to get a proper fit

I'm actually wondering this as well. Also will the LT headers cause a check engine light or a code? Not looking to tune right now. Wanna keep the warantee

the headers with cats should fit right into where the stock catback starts.. the stock cat back is all one piece so if you do want get an x pipe and keep the stock mufflers you would have to weld it on.

LT headers will give you a CEL so you have to tune it out. theres no way around it

Not all LT cat combos will fit the stock catback. Mine did not. I had to cut my catback.

But I can tell you the stock catback performs great. And it is a nice balance of quiet at low speeds and loud at redline.

But the high rpm sound of LTs with stock catback has a loud slapping sound I do not like. I will be adding an aftermarket axleback, probably a Magnaflow street.

What do you mean stock catback performs well? Versus high flow cats? Not from what I saw this weekend on the dyno. Two SS LS3 engines, only difference was stock cats vs. Solo high flow. 20 RWHP difference with Solo cats.

a cat back and high flow cats are two different things.

You'll need to shop around for a dealer that works with a speed shop, or does their own work. I just talked to a local shop with a good rep and learned they are doing tons of cars for two dealers in the area. Fortunately one of the dealers is where I bought my car from. The speed shop told me that it depends on the dealership whether or not they'll help out on problems if you have a custom tune. He told me they are working with these two dealers now and it shouldn't be an issue. Of course, I'll have to deal with one of these dealers.

The second dealer he mentioned does a lot of mod work. My club forum discusses that dealer all the time and how everyone loves them. I didn't realize he was the shop involved with them.

Worst case, make sure the shop will keep your stock tune and can put it back if major problems occur. Keep your stock header and cats. Sounds like a pain, but if you're that worried about it. I'm going for Kooks LT and high flow cats hooked up to my borla cat-back system. My car is only 2 months old now so I figure worst case it would take me a day to put the old stuff back on and have the tune rolled back. Hopefully my dealer will work with me and the speed shop since they already do business together.

Yeah, duh. I misread that. I have cats on the brain since visiting the dyno this weekend.

And yes, the stock exhaust is pretty decent other than sound.
