Z/28 Underbody Panel (Belly Pan) - New Design???

Does your belly pan look like this?

This picture from SEMA shows 4 vents/openings (see red arrow) near the back of the pan - these vents are not present in the other versions of the 2014-2015 belly pan that I've seen (and the one I own).

I'm trying to decide if I want to cut out these openings in mine (could make oil changes much easier).

Thanks for your help

All 4 are open in mine, 2014 #181. Though the design would allow for easy oil changes, I took mine off to prevent residual oil build up, the belly pan is in the way of the oil flow when the drains are pulled.

Great, thanks - I guess one confirmation is enough!

I tried to order the Z/28 pan (# 23459995)back in late September, I was told it was on hold. My parts guy is good to me, and he kept digging for info. GM told him not available, temporary hold, no restriction. So I told him to order me a ZL1 pan (# 22765382), after a week or so I called him and he said there was a new # (23188146). So that is the one I have, it has the notches near the cats, but not the openings like the Z/28 pan has.

I cut my rubber lower deflector (beneath splitter) to mimic the ZL1 & Z/28 version.

Yep, that's exactly like the one I have, and I was also thinking about removing the deflector adjacent to the pan. I think I will cut out the 4 vents before installing, since it probably helps with cooling.

The Z/28 pan (23459995) is available now and is about $30.00 cheaper than the ZL1 pan.
FYI if anyone was checking.

Does anyone know if the Z/28 belly pan will fit a 2013 1LE? Were there threaded holes/fasteners added to the 2014 models to allow bolting on this belly pan that are not present in a 2013 car? Just wondering if this is an easy bolt on for me or if there would need to be some drilling and tapping to the subframe to hold it on?

Thanks in advance for any info someone can provide.

IIRC there were caged nuts inserted into specific holes in the subframe and frame. I would think that the holes wow be there and you'll need the nuts and pan. Good luck with the projrct!

If anyone has their belly pan off to do an oil change or any other work under the car and wouldn't mind taking a few photos of the belly pan anchor points with the caged nuts that would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your help. I ordered the Z28 version from Maureen at Rodgers Chevy, and am installing it today (it was cheaper than the uncut ZL1 version I bought originally). Also cutting the rubber deflector so that I only have a short piece on either end.

Please take some pics during the install to help point out where the caged nuts are located at on the subframe if you can and post them!
