Recommendations for new tires

Well, I have quietly been putting miles on my 2014 Zl1 and have decided that I definitely need more power. I purchased this car with 4300 miles on it in January. I now have about 7400 miles. My previous ride was 2004 gto that we built with a Texas speed 408 with an F1a procharger. It put down 820 rwhp. But, burned up in December. So my mechanic said he is gowing to handle the power additions with parts from hennessey. But, my concern is the tires. The stock tires break loose real easy, and I don't want to put more power to this car and try to drive it, race it on the factory tires. What recommendations do you have for upgrades.
And, if I change tires, will it affect the computer control of the handling of the car. My old 04 GTO had mickey Thompson drag radials and, although I broke those loose easily, the car stayed straight, no wheel hop and, if I feathered it out of first, I could get decent traction.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

This 100% depends on how much power you're thinking. And what kind of "hook" you except and what turning power you're willing to trade for lateral acceleration.

Stock power to 650 wheel, a 20" NT05R on stock wheels will hook nicely.
650-700 a slightly shorter wheel would help but an NT05R could still work.
700+ and you'll probably want a proper drag setup, that is something like 17" welds and ET Street Rs.

Mickey Thompson makes the ET Street S/S that fits the stock 20" wheels on ZL1s, that would be similar to the NT05R but hook a little bit better but sway a bit more on the big end. Up to you.

Toyo R888s will hook nearly as good as a NT05R and handle better in the turns, that's another option, but those'll be useless above 700 wheel I'd say.

Please stay away from Hennessey in general though. If you're getting your car built by them, don't walk, run away. They're very rough on customers cars, have been known to do cheap work and tunes that are only good for the warranty that protects their butt. If you're just buying parts from them, then there's much better places to do that from cost wise. If you're using them as a guideline and ordering and installing your parts yourself, then I still find issue with their builds lol.

The mechanic has a very close friend there and will get the parts at a better deal than a walk in customer.
The work will be done here in SC. I think I want to keep it at the 650 to 700 range. That should still be a fun ride. They aren't going to do the work, I wouldn't trust them, my mechanic yes, them, no. I've heard the complaint before. I believe I will be in very trusted hands with my mechanic. He's a very close friend. Will the cars computer system "detect" different tires on the car, and, will it handle differently, meaning worse?

They dont detect different tires unless the tire dia is vastly different...

I run BFG Comp T/A 2 AS on the street and 888Rs at the track

Do you hook well with those tires? I'm not to fond of the stock tires

I dont have any issues with the 888s once they are warm...

I like the BFGs better than stock but they can be easily over driven with my 600rwhp
