? Where to start with my '95 z28 ?

hey guys i am new to the site and am hoping to get more into modifying my camaro as i have always wanted to do and have now saved enough to get started.
It is a stock 1995 z28, lt1, auto. I have $5k to spend and when i am finished i am hoping to get about another 75hp or so out of it. I would like to keep it streetable and at the same time i'd like to take it to a few test&tune events at the dragstrip.
Some things i had in mind were headers, exhaust, manifold, cai, and possibly some drivetrain components maybe a lighter driveshaft, simple things. I was hoping you guys could help me with ideas on what to buy and where to find them, and like i said those were just ideas of mine so feel free to tell me if i'd be an idiot to invest in any of those things. I am also looking for a new more aggressive looking hood. I would like to stay away from nitrous, aux fuel system, that type of thing anything that would make it expensive to run.

Thanks alot

The first thing I would do is get a cold air intake, like this one
Its around $250 and could be done in about 90 mins if you have some mechanical knowledge ,adds 18 Hp right there

The best bang for buck thing to do for an auto is a 3000stall converter! trust me..this took a full half second off my quarter mile time! it doesnt give u hp but it makes it a heck of a lot faster....of course get cai, long tube headers, and exhaust...then a tune...u should be in 12s low 13s with that combo...i was

I agree. I have had very good success with a Yank SS3200 converter. Took nearly half a second off my ET all by itself on a near stock car.

Gotta agree here. Its quick and easy and that LT1 needs to breathe. The stock air induction system really chokes off the air. Of course you don't need to go all the way to ram air like I did but please, give that V8 some breathing space.
After that you can go for some of the more complicated stuff.

Whatever you do, have fun!
