Drag Racers: Suspension for best 60fts?

I like to hit the dragstrip quite a bit and I was wondering what key suspension parts need to be upgraded in the Camaro to make it a capable performer. I have raced hundreds of times in different vehicles so I'm not a noob by any means, but I don't want to waste my time on parts that won't give me a good return either. So far I have Eibach 1" lowering springs (I know not necessarily great for drag racing, but I wanted a mild drop) and BMR trailing arms. They're not installed yet but will be soon. I'll most likely be running on a good set of drag radials and not slicks until later. So what else do I need to control wheel hop and get this car out of the hole? Let's hear your set ups and what works best.

Bushings. I'm new to canaria but desk with the IRS stuff in mutants slit. Bushings should be the first thing done.

Well, if you are talking A6, I would say leave it alone. They leave plenty hard with the stock stuff. I think one of the companies makes a "drag pack". But I think orange chevy is a stick and stock suspension and leaves like a maniac. Maybe he'll chime in.

I put SPOHN trailing arms and they seam to have solved my wheel hop issues. I also have SPOHN front and rear sway bars and just ordered BMR subframe connectors yesterday and a driveshaft safety loop since I'm planning on running into the high 12s soon. I called looking for some NITTO drag radials today and the guy never called me back. I'm going to puchase some SS knock-off 20s and put 275 or 285 40s on the rear weeks. I'm going with the NITTO 555R tire, probably asomewhere around $300 each. Good luck at the track and let us know how you do.

I have an M6. I went 13.33@107 bone stock on Friday night in terrible weather (1800-2100ft DA). I can't wait until I can get more aggressive out of the hole though and not feather it so much.

That's not as bad as my best run out of two times out. I have a M6 and my best time was 13.57 with no traction in first or second gear. I sure hope the drag radials help, slicks would be even nicer if I had a trailer.

Did you use the launch mode? Watch the rear axels, they are very fragile on these cars.

I thought it was decent considering the conditions and the fact I hadn't raced a manual in almost 7 years.

No launch mode. A friend of mine broke some stuff at the track trying that. 3500rpm and slipped the clutch out.

So what was it, if you don't mind be asking. I couldn't imagine trying to launch my car if it was a stick.

trailing arms will help the wheel hop alot but if you have enough power you will melt straight through some street tires either way. My manual is pretty much unlaunchable at the moment, I have to hit it from a roll to get the power down and it still burns them a bit. From a stop, with traction control on I can eventually drive through the tire spin after a few seconds of not going anywhere. Anybody try to launch from 2nd gear? Im curious what kind of 60 could be had.

I only got 3 runs in because the track was busy and the staff was terrible. Prep was unusually mediocre. The first pass I bogged big time and went 13.72 with a 2.38 60ft. I gave it more gas on the 2nd pass but didn't slip the clutch out quite fast enough and went 13.38 with a 2.15 60ft. The last pass I got it more together and went 13.33 with a 2.04 60ft. All at 107mph.

2.04. That is really damn gd. I think you are also going to need some stickier tires too. That, and some of the basic Bolton on suspension stuff should help. Justice Pete on here too is a great guy to get a hold of. He is the pedders man an will hook you up plus he is a straight shooter and if you don't need it he will tell you. Gd luck,

Thanks for the info. I was happy with the 2.04 my first time out. I need some more seat time but I'll probably wait until I can go when it's a bit cooler and after I get my first round of mods put on. Drag radials will definitely be on the list. I miss my 1.5X 60fts I was getting with my Lightning!

Those aren't bad 60ft times for your first time and stock. I was having a hell of time dropping below 2.2 60ft my first couple times out. I obviously haven't figured out how to launch it yet.

The Camaro seems kina hard to launch correctly to me. Not sure if it's the weight or the 20" wheels or what. It can be done though....I've seen some people launch the M6 pretty good with all stock suspension.

I had terrible wheel hop the first time out. A set of Spohn Del-Sphere TAs fixed that. A set of drag radials would help alot as well.

I've got headers, exhasut, and tune going on my car hopefully at the begining of the this week and I'll get out to the track again for another try. Drag Radials will probably be my next major mod after that. Might be awhile though because my mod fund is tapped right now.
