They break because it's a shitty design.
Thanks for the info, my replacement part arrived friday, I think I am going to design some re-enforcements on my 3D printer and hope that keeps it from breaking again.

Nice job. You say it is pretty easy. Would you mind posting the steps of removal, specifically peeling back the top?

Thanks

Isn't there anything special holding the top right there? My worry was that it would be glued or something and I wouldn't be able to put it back properly.

Nice shots, though, thank you.

The only thing you have to take off is a bar that sandwiches the front of the top in place. It has 7 screws and spans the entire width of the top, if you leave your top half way up you will see the bar.

The instructions i have say to remove a screw hidden under the release handle, did you remove that?

Mine just started and I narrowed it down to this piece. $35 is good with me for replacing. Got a P/N?

I checked the header molding on my wife's 15 SS and found that several of the mounting points were broken although the panel wasn't rattling when she drove the car. Took it in yesterday and the dealer ordered the new panel under warranty. They will call me to bring the car in when the part arrives. Looking at the pictures posted the breaks appear to be radial which means the part was over tightened at the assembly plant. Great info from the forum members!!! Thanks!
