The ad says it's in Los Angeles... That's odd. Maybe he lives in LA and never registered it for CA?

GT-R is a nice car but I would rather save that $46k and buy the Z-28 when it comes out...

It's a fairly common practice for scammers to scour forums for pics and a vin number from other parts of the US, less chance of the actual owner to see the ad and blow the whistle.

^^^ That actually happened to me.

Back in 2005, I traded in an 03 Tiburon for a brand new VW GTI at a VW dealership. I got what I wanted for the Tiburon and drove off in my shiny new VW GTI.

About 1 month later, I get a call from the police in Brownwood, TX asking if I was the registered owner of the Tiburon:

I told them that I had sold the car to a VW dealership and signed the title over to them, they proceeded to tell me the following story.

After I had sold the Tiburon to the VW dealer, they decided they didn't want to sell it through the dealership being as I had put a supercharger on it. They sold it on to a local independent dealer. They then passed it onto a 3rd party 'shonky' dealer. They then placed ads all over eBay in many, many different states for my 2003 Tiburon, for sale for $4000. If you googled my VIN no, it came up in at least 28 states!!

Well, someone in Brownwood, TX had paid the requested $2000 deposit for the Tiburon, thinking they had bought it on eBay, and it was a complete scam.

Obviously, he called the police, and being as VW hadn't transfered the title out of my name, I was still on the title, so the police called me up about the situation!

I haven't been so nervous in all my life! I knew I hadn't done anything wrong, but when you have a call from the police at 7pm at night about, you start to panic!

Thankfully, I had a paper trail for the sale and the purchase of my new car, all completely above board, and come to find out that actually, someone in Ohio legitimately bought my Tiburon a week earlier.

It's just frightening that people will create scams like that, advertising my car in 28 states at once.
