SMOKE FROM AC!?!?! - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey guys this has occurred for 3 days straight now. Going into dealer in the morning to get it dealt with just wondering what it might be?!?!

I mean it is literally smoke coming out of the ac, defrost everything. Doesnt matter how hot or cold i put it. Faster i turn the fan up faster the car fills with the smoke/fumes. It is white/grey in color and smells ... almost like a burning but not (if that makes sense?). Defroster WILL not keep window dry, actually makes it worse. I dont have any ideas some please someone tell me something!!

Sounds to me like maybe your heater core is goin.. does it smell like syrup kind of? If it is the heater core, lets hope it doesnt dump antifreeze in your floor boards! Had that happen a few times in my old cars. Hope it gets fixed soon.

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electricool problem.

I'd keep the vents turned off, the windows cracked a just a little(don't want to fan any flames)and get it to the dealar asap.

Well I am sitting at dealer waiting for my impala rental ....

Service writer said it smells like coolant most likely from the heater core. They are checking to confirm and parts availability etc. No estimated time of fix so far!
So depressed having to leave my baby.

Lovely, that means you have to get a new windshield, dash has to come out. All kinds of fun.

Just heard back it is definitely the heater core leaking. Need to order the part because they don't have it in stock. Looking 7-10 days without the Camaro!!!

They tried to give me an impala that reeked of smoke as a rental. Through a fit and they gave me a truck off their lot. Have an ext cab silverado for the time being. Not a bad Lil truck actually. Bu def no Camaro :(

Oh well. The countdown begins.

Just found your thread, mine is at the dealer getting the heater core replaced too. I should have it back tomorrow though. To the person that said have to get new windshield, why would you have to get a new windshield I have never heard of having to do that from this type of problem.
