Please do a search... you will find many threads about this type of topic. IT IS NOT GM'S FAULT... THE DEALER IS A FRANCHISE AND CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT WITH PRICING. If this was my issue I would be paying a visit to the State's Attorney General's Office. A signed document is a Legal and binding document.

I also doubt it will be there by the time i get this resolved. Some idiot will probably pay it. They already had a sold tag on a yellow 2SS/RS.
I hear ya.

But, the manager is full of CRAP!

Demand the General Manager's name and contact info, if he refuses, call the dealer main number, ask for the General Manager, and fill him in.

The owner is an excellent route to try as well.

Good luck - Let us know if we can help further.

EDIT:

General Manager: Bill Lawton

This same thing happened when the Mustang GT came out, then again when the GT500 arrived and then again when the Challenger came out. The only difference is that they already went through their early production/shortage issues and now sell for retail or below. Six months from now no one will get a premium but this is the game that all too many stealers, oops dealers play. Gm/Ford/Dodge can't or won't do anything about it so it's time to get over that. In my mind it's all about me from this point forward. I will no longer get emotional about buying this car. I will get what I want at the price I want within an acceptable timeframe. I no longer care about codes or anything to do with the order process. All of that crap will just drive me crazy.
I'm just a happy camper from this point forward.

Don't give up on this. Take them to court if you need to, any lawyer would be all over that.

Everyone is saying that the dealer is not GM... That is true but who represents GM in the public eye? THE DEALER! If the dealers are giving GM a bad name to the GENERAL PUBLIC, wouldnt there be something GM could do??? Sure, we know that its not GMs fault but how do other people see it? I would definetly be in touch with the owner, then lawyer, then every news station I could find a number for and let it be known that Mac Haik is a crooked dealer and that its dealers like them that give GM a bad reputation.

Also, be sure to contact the Better Business Bureau. Most ethical companies do not like having a smear mark on their BBB record. I had issues with an expensive hotel in Austin, and they played dumb until I had the BBB calling them daily to resolve it. All of a sudden, they started kissing my butt.

I work near that dealership, may have to drop by myself tomorrow to take a peek at a CGM in person. Mine gets built next week.

Let me be clear here, I do not hold GM totally at fault. They do, however, have to take some of the blame. It is their product and their future the dealers are messing with. I am including them here because I would like to see someone at GM step up and put a stop to this. I don't want to see GM go down any more then most of you. They have spent millions on this car and customers are going to be completely put off once they see what the dealers are doing with the markups!! Everyone at Mac Haik knew I was coming and knew the deal I had. They were waiting for me. The general manager had already told the manager (Corey Echols) they were NOT going to honor the deal. The only other person at that dealer that was well aware of my deal, since I spoke more to him then my salesman that left, was conveniently gone.

And about a law suit, I am not spending any money to prove I was wronged. Hopefully this forum will do that for me!!!

wether or not the salesman is there anymore doesnt matter, most courts recognize that if the person was in anyway recognized by the dealership as an agent on their behalf, the signed deal is a "binding contract" between you and the entity that the sales person was acting as agent for, so the dealership. If you want the car bad enough you take a copy to the owner, show it to him, give him a reasonable amount of time to respond (24 to 48 hrs). Tell him that if you do not hear from him that you will be taking legal action. Beleive me, he knows the law on contracts and agents, he willl tell you to come get your car as agreed. I do not know what you will gain by a suit because you havent suffered ant monitary damage and it is diffcult in a case like this to prove personel and pshycological damage. Unless this puts you over the edge! At the most the court will force him to live up to the deal agreed upon.

So again, I say, do it only if you still want "this" car ! You do have legal right here to get your contract completed !

I'm gonna call tomorrow morning and let them know to honor the contract, or I'll smear their name all across central Texas. I'm sure enough phone calls and they'll give this guy his deal.
I suggest every Camaro5 member should call this number, tell them you were thinking of purchasing a Chevy _______(fill in the blank) BUT you read on a forum about how unfairly they treated a soon to be 2010 Camaro owner and now you will take your business elsewhere.

A couple of phone calls and probably by 5PM tomorrow, matter solved.

OLDTIMER Please keep us posted.

The manager on duty was Corey Echols. I do not know the GM's name as we was not present. Or so I was told.

Also, I am not sure if the car will still be there as I told the manager where he should stick it. Not one of my "better" moments.

Agreed. We as general public cannot buy vehicles directly from GM, we have to purchase them through the dealer network. Therefore the dealers are a huge representative for GM ( or any other manufacturer ).

If the dealers are disrespecting the consumer ( us ), it does affect GM also as the dealer has discussed a potential buyer for a GM car and they may purchase from a different manufacturer.

These are tough financial times, both GM and the dealers both need to work hard to ensure the continued success by satisfying the buying public.

GM needs to keep a closer eye on the dealers to ensure they attract as many buyers as possible to keep sales up.

Personally the way I see it, if GM want's me to by their products, they need to ensure that I am able to buy them at a fair market price.

Do Not let them get by with this. Do what ever you have to do, Better Business Bureau, Lawyer, State Atty General's office, do something. Let them know they cannot back out of a legal binding agreement. I had a similiar thing happen to me a few years ago. I bought a used 69 Camaro from a Chevy dealer in Christiansburg VA. I left a check and had a bill of sale and when I went back to pick it up they would not let me have it. They tried to say the sales person was not supposed to sell it. It was on the back row and would not start. I had no way to haul it the day I bought it. I bought it in May 00. I filed a Warrant in Debt by myself with some advice from a friend who is a lawyer. The Court date was in October, I told them they better not sell the car before the issue was resolved. Finally they called in August and tried to resolve and I explained I would take nothing short of the car. They tried to bump me for $2k more. I stood my ground and finally in September they let me have the car. It is the orange 69 in my photo. Stand your ground. If you stand up maybe you can prevent this from happening to someone else.
