I was told by a GM rep the other day that the vert is put off for another year. The company that was going to do the conversion went out of buisness. Just what I heard from a GM rep so dont take it to be 100% accurate. Nobody knows untill it happens these days.

Per Chevy:

Plans for Camaro Convertible Cancelled ?

Just called my dealer to ask about my order and I asked him if he had heard anything new...........He told me nothing yet but they got an email today from GM telling them that they will no longer produce a convertible at all. Not sure if this is true or not but my dealer has been on top of everything so far. The email said with the upcoming bankruptcy, it will not be cost effective to make a convertible anytime in the future. Please someone else call your dealer and ask to validate this.......I know so many people waiting for a convertible instead of ordering now. Just trying to help.......not looking for a bunch of mean messages.

Timeline for the 'vert is definitely there. I hope it is available that quickly - Q1 2011 is the targeted date for the start of production, I believe

Best regardSS,

Elie

I think the realistic approach is wait-and-see. Between now and 2011 we'll know how GM, the economy, and Camaro sales are doing. Any commitment by GM to a convertible right now should be considered a hope, not a plan.
