25 laps in EITHER of these cars is going to be embarrassing for both cars by the end.
Well, perhaps not embarrassing, but certainly unimpressive. Despite all the marketing they've both attempted, neither is a 'true' track car. Sure they can be taken out and thrashed around a few laps here and there, and certainly have the ability to post great times, but it's not likely they'll be able to do it for an extended period of time.

Oh great now if/when the Shelby beats it around a road course its not gonna count cause it wasnt 25 laps. I'll remember that if the ZL1 beats the Shelby. Doesnt matter it was only one lap and if they would have raced for 25 the ZL1's brakes would have failed before the Shelby's therefore the Shelby is the real winner in the real world...

It's all bench racing for now, but I predict the excuses for when the GT500 beats the ZL1 to be:
1. The Camaro still looks better 2. (if applicable) The cars weren't run on the same day, with the same drive, on the same tide schedule, when the same planets were in alignment, etc. 3. Well that's on one (fill in the blank) track, but Ford still hasn't released numbers for the Nurburgring. 4. The 2013 ZL1 isn't out yet. 5. The ZL1 is still easier to drive for the average driver. 6. The ZL1 is still cheaper (even though MSRP is going up $1995 for 2013). 7. Just wait until the Camaro comes out on the Alpha platform. I can't think of any more right now, but I'm sure I'm missing something. |

The shelby only won because it was driven by pros. Bc the ZL1 is so much easier to drive it will be the faster car with the owners.

@ All~
in my last 2 track days, i havent cross the shadows of any kind of mustang nor camaro on the circuit! 5 vipers, 25 porshes GT2, GT3, 5 BM3,4,5,6 AMG63, lambo, and the regular ricers. I wonder who is going to put its baby ZL1 or GT500 on the track...? It took me 2 years to put my babe on the circuit for a growling 2 hours

It's frustrating enough posting in this mega-thread when there are four or five different conversations at one time, but add in posts like the one I've quoted and it turns into a war of words. In your defense I do agree that we can't really know which car will fade faster, but as the SRT guy and I have stated, we do know they'll fade well below the performance levels of a Boss or 1LE.
