I've driven about 300 miles and listened to a CD and my iPod. I think the sound is very good for a stock unit in this price range car. I haven't checked any of the settings, however my '08 Enclave sounded much better after I adjusted the bass/treble from the factory settings. XM isn't a good test since the source quality isn't real great. It has plenty of bass for what I listen too, country, '50-'60 and jazz. If you want the window vibrating bass it isn't there, but most of the unit I've heard with that overwhelm the other tones.

Do not judge the quality of the stereo system from XM or the radio.... XM has garbage quality from all the compression they use....

I am very particular about sound systems. I find the upgraded BA system slightly above average. Mid and high range is good. The low end is fine until you drive into decent power (less then half) of the volume level. Clipping starts to degrade your low. Of course if you almost eliminate the bass setting you can achieve a decent db level but you sacrifice a strong low. Just my taste in sound and opinion.

Save your money! The upgrade isnt all that. If you love music and your particular about the sound quality dont get it.

I would say to that, maybe maybe not. Depending on how deep your pockets are and how much you like your steering wheel functions. Comparing the top BA stereo here with a ford shaker 1000 (top) and the older GM bose system, this one will give you a wider frequency response. So if you listen to aggressive fast music strongly bass or beat driven you'll likely want more. If not this system will work well for you. I would put it ahead of the GM bose system and pretty equal with the shaker 1000 with a slight advantage. I want a bit more but it was worth the price for me. An amp and sub should make me happy.

Good enough for me, I'm trading in my 05 mustang gt with the shaker 1000.

I think it sounds good for me. But it's not nearly as loud as the Bose system that was in my H2. I was actually surprised they didn't go with the Bose system in here. But I don't listen to my radio loud so it's more than enough for me. But for people who like to jam I think they will be a little dissapointed.

I would have to agree. Once I hit 30-35 range on volume, bass starts clipping. I think my '04 Traliblazer system sounded better.

Yes. If your source is good then the sound is good.

For me,my 05 H2 SUT bose system fell short. The bass clipped at medium levels of volume, the lack of mid adjustment can't compare with the mid clarity of the upper BA, and I had to max the treble and it was still flat. It was a little louder, but it also clipped/distorted more.
JM ears talkin.
