I worked at the local ice-rink as a "guard." Basically you made sure people didnt go too fast and screw up!
I also cut A LOT of grass in the summer. I actually made more money doing that!! |

You can detail cars at a dealership. It's a start, and it helps you learn more about which products and techniques are best when you finally get to detail your own.

I had my son power wash the deck at that age. Several of our neighbors saw this and used him as well. My wife took him to work and had him do filing and shredding for minimum wage. He also put down bark mulch and mowing.

Cut lawns. You will get regular customers. The neighbors will respect the kid that actually WORKS for his money. I had a list of people that I cut lawns for at that age. Shoot...I cut lawns from 12 to 16...and continued for a few people after that.
You will get on a schedule with the people.....every two weeks or so. Cut, weed eat, clean up, done. Charge depending on size of the lawn. There's no one to bug you. Just make the customer happy and take pride in the job. The neighbors will see it and might ask you how much for their lawn too. You do a good job and will get yourself more regulars. It's really good money. I had all sorts of cash to buy stuff. After all, you can't go get a job and get on a payroll anywhere else...too young. Cutting lawns pays good money and it's flexible for the schedule. |

I've been cutting our lawn with riding mower since I was six. The yards in my neighborhood would be a solid 5 hours if grass is to long. I would love to detail cars at Dodge dealer.

Mow lawns.
Another thing you can do (and I'm serious here) is watch people's houses when they go on vacation. I did that for my neighbor. Just look after the house, water some plants, pet/play with the cat, make sure the basement isn't flooded, and here's 50 bucks. Other than that, it's really hard to get a formal job at 13...believe me, I tried. I was never able to get an actual job until 16.

When I was in high school I answered a newspaper ad asking for a tutor for a 4th grader. Showed up and introduced myself, the father asked what my price was and said 'ok', and that was that. Just went over basic math, reading, grammar, etc and spent alot of time saying "no, I don't want to see your Pokemon cards right now." You can put stuff like that on your resume in the future too.
