Doors

My 1993 Z/28 and my 2001 WS-6 both featured a composite door. I was curious what the 2013 Camaro doors are made off. Our 1LE should be here in a week or so, and I just struck me I had never noticed.

Sheet metal. They tell what gauge on Ultimate Factories: Camaro. Google or youtube it. They show them pressing two at a time.

Thanks. The composite door was great at preventing door dinks, but the drivers door on the WS-6, which I get rid of Wednesday night, is broken at one of the points where it is glued / fused together. Pros and cons with everything.

At some point, they will probably be aluminum. The process is still being perfected. But that won't help with door dings...just weight.

Our hoods are aluminum. I was surprised at how light it was when I replaced it. Would be nice if they started making other parts like trunks and doors out of it, or at least plastic like the old Saturns were.

That Ssturn composite material is what the doors and front fenders on the gen 4s were made of.

I thought I read the hood AND trunk were aluminum already.
